PCV. Oil usage
Im working on a 2011 scion tc with 2ar-fe engine. 249k miles
Customer states (gf daughter). Oil usage is really high. Also rattles for 2 seconds or so on every cold start.
I thought i would change out her valve cover and put in a new PCV valve...
Well once i read the TSB about the VVT gear, i thought i would tackle that too.
I did compression test with kit from Auto zone. All 4 cylinders are at about 175 psi.
Ordered gear, Timing chain tenioner, new seal kit. And going to do a liqui moly oil treatment when finished.
Waiting on parts im trying to reach the PCV from underneath and i think im barking up a wrong tree here. Im fairly confident i can change out the VVT gear. And complete the valve cover gasket.
But after looking at where this PCV is,, im wondering , am i going to have to remove the intake manifold to reach the PCV?
Does anyone have experience with this. I know this car hasnt been touched as far as PCV and the engine since new.
Thanks for help.

Did changing the pcv valve help? I have a 2011 that burns oil and everything I read says it’s most likely the piston rings. 190k miles, not really looking to spend a bunch of money on it.
