I have the same problem that Matariel does, but I feel like it's been getting better after putting miles on the car, almost hitting 900 now. Good to know that it's not just my car. I always just assumed it was me not being fully used to driving stick yet.

2K on mine and it is getting better still. I have to make a mental note while driving to hold the clutch in a bit longer than normal on the 1-2 shift. I honestly feel a thinner, gear oil would help tons in the winter. Winter sucks. I am allergic to anything below 50F
The shifter cable and base bushing upgrade is starting to sound real good.

I just installed the TWM shifter cable and base bushings.., amazing I must say. shifter feel is awesome with out even throwing a short shifter in there. something which I am waiting for TWM to release so I can install that too. very simple too.

I got the same grinding feeling when I get 1st to 2second since I got the car .I go to the dealership when the car have 700km and they say its normal.I put the twm shifter i can feel less of it but you can still feel it when its cold and in canada its cold pretty much 75% of the year .Now my car have 3200km and it still does the same thing I asked to my dealership was is the ***** problem with this transmission I got car with 150 000km and the tranny was smoother than this one . By the end of december they will change the oil in tranny and see if it resolve the problem but I dont think so .I am happy now to know that I am not the only one with this problem.

I wouldn't worry about it. Mine used to grind too, but it stopped grinding after about 5k miles. It still makes a clunking noise though, but it doesn't bother me enough to complain.

I was about to post this same question when I came across this thread. I live in Los Angeles and the wether here is never very cold. It seems to go away when the tranny fluid warms up as my06tc stated. I took mine into the dealer at 400 miles and asked them to assess it. I was told this is normal until it is "broken in" and will eventually go away. I have 1200 miles on it now and it has not gone away one tiny little bit.

Even when I can shift normally from 1st to 2nd after it has warmed up, trying to downshift from 3rd to 2nd is nearly impossible. From reading this thread, I am suspecting I will need to get used to it.

Yeah I reported mine to my dealership at my 15k oil change. 15k miles and the tranny is still a bear in cold weather. Almost all of us got the free 20k service, so tell them when you take it in. Otherwise we will all be stuck dealing with this. Winter is over here for us, 85F already. We did not even get a winter actually. So I have to wait until next winter so they can see the problem firsthand.

At least they appear to be willing to work with you. Believe it or not, that can be the biggest hurdle. My transmission whines/howls like crazy, 3rd gear is a bear to engage but I've gotten nowhere with it.
