Default Cooling solution?

Anyone came up with a cooling solution for the boosted second gen tc owners? I can't find an aftermarket radiator or an aftermarket thermostat anywhere and it feels like my heats on if I spool my snail this can't be a good thing for our cars

Are you monitoring the temperatures or just assuming? Yes turbo'd vehicles produce more heat, but either way what are the numbers?

Currently No way to monitor ill prob pickup a scan gauge here soon so I have an exact number it can't be too bad because Its not burning coolant and my temperature hot lights never been on I'm concerned for the summer though when it's 90+ degrees outside

You can order a mishimoto radiator through world-racing. It's supposedly for the second gen xb but they modify it to fit our tc. Call them up and ask about it.

Water temperature is much more important than anything else in a boosted car. You need to get a water temperature gauge as soon as you can. They are one of the easiest things to install. Also, being boosted, you really should have an oil pressure gauge, that tells you everthing as well. Water temperature lets you know if your going to blow your head, and your oil pressure lets you know if your going to blow your block. Oil pressure gauge is even easier than the water temperature. Come on man.

But as far as keeping it cool, you can spend all that money on a pretty radiator, or you can just go to Autozone and get some Water Wetter Supercool. It keeps your temperature down by like 10%-15% or something. You just pour it into your radiator. We run it on all of our race cars, and we don't peak over 170 degrees. The s**t works.

I plan to get both of those gauges but at $200 a dang gauge from AEM it's ridiculous that's why I've not gotten them yet but ill give the water wetter a try and see if she runs cooler

I installed a 2010+ Scion XB2 radiator from Mishimoto along with the silicone hoses. The lower radiator hose will need some cutting to make it fit but the rest is a direct replacement (upper rad hose, and radiator). Here's some pictures.

World Racing's modified XB2 radiator will only work with the stock hoses.

Was it difficult to modify and does it cool better?

Nope. Not difficult at all. In the second pic you can see where I cut from the hose. That's the only modification needed.

I'm sponsored by Mishimoto and was the first one to try it. Now you know, so you can buy the xb2 radiator and hoses and have them fit.

I agree with what the others' have said. A water temp gauge is a must, especially for aftermarket forced induction applications.

I think the Mishimoto Radiator can be found on their website. If not, I'd call them directly or hit up World Racing East in PA/Dezod/PTuning, since they all specialize in Scions.

Some titanium heat wrap will lower the ambient temp of your engine bay. I'd also consider a turbo blanket, as well. DEI is a decent company that makes those products.

Thanks! I saw the site already. It says XB 2008+. I was looking for 2010 since that was the year mentioned here. Lol! Not familiar with titanium heat wrap though. What part needs to be wrapped?

2008+ XB2 is the correct radiator to buy. Here's a link.

The turbo manifold and downpipe can be wrapped to lower ambient temp. You can get a "blanket" or "shield" for the hot side of the turbocharger.

Heat Wrap:

Shield:

Something like that, they make different sizes for different trims.

I have a non modified xb2 radiator with modified xb2 hoses.

Two options, with one being more accessible than the other.
