What? No Dynamat! The car looks naked without it...and probably sounds real tinny...

i have spent like $125 making my first box but that includes buying the roller which was $17, the gal of resin $40, 48 cu ft of fiberglass, brushes, measuring cups, bondo, and new blades for my tools. $3500 is a bit excessive... even if you include your dynamat.

So here's a dumb questions. I understand how to make the box etc, I've worked with fiberglass a little. But how do you actually "install" the thing to the car? I don't want it just sitting there.

Thanks!

There are a few ways. You can leave a hole in the box and use a washer and bolt to secure it to the car frame. If you do this you need to install this anchor before installing your sub into the box. While making the box more secure, this is much more of a pain in the ___ because if you need to remove the box you can't just pull it out.

Another way is simply to put some velcro on the bottom of the box. This is what I've done and it never moves unless I want it to. Ever.

As for using dynamat or some other kind of insulation.... Completely unnecessary. I've had my set up years and it still sounds amazing. I'm running 2 10's and they are louder than I would ever listen to. Sounding "tinny"? Don't even know what that means but like I said - mine sounds amazing with no unnecessary insulation or coating.

Good luck.

Sup everybody, I actually have made 2 custom fit sealed sub boxes for the two cubby holes in either side of our cars trunk. The left is a 10" and the right is a 12". They are now for sale, if you are interested feel free to PM me and we'll work something out.

Default Great Start

Wow! that looks like a winner. I've been looking at OEMAudio+ sub setup and the enclosure is great but it is way overpriced for what it is, like a grand for an CF 8". I would def through down for a set of what I saw on here. Would they be painted to spec? ( and I read that this was for the 2nd gen, correct?)

I used the same technique to build mine, but used mdf and fleece to make it bigger and ported with a spot for an amp up top. but i wasnt nearly as precise as you were. this was my first time using fiberglass.
