Default Radio problem

I've had my old Alpine powerpack hooked up to my radio for a while, but ever since I did it when i put my headlights on the screen goes dark. I thought this had something to do with the "illumination" wire which is like a teal/green and I tap spliced into it and connected it directly from the HU into the stock harness, bypassing the amp (thats what I had to do to get the remote wire to work) but it didn't work. Any ideas how to get it working?

I'm not really sure I understand. If your screen is not dimming when you turn on your lights, double check that you're connecting to the correct wires.

One possible reason why your radio may be dimming could be is that your stock alternator may not be powerful enough for the total wattage of your electronic/audio/video components when all are turned on. You will need to calculated your wattage + compare the OEM alt output . Some people + I upgraded to a higher output alternator + upgrade to a dry cell car battery which may help resolve that problem.

Good Luck

At Rotz,
The Second wire -- the green wire (illumination) is spliced directly into the second wire on my aftermarket harness, orange (illumination) am I doing something wrong?

And JIMXB, It's not simply dimming, it turns off. Radio loud or not. It's a wiring issue. The stock alt is more than capable of handling itself-- especially at highways speeds.
Johndeo11, you have an Alpine KTP-445 Amp in the back of the stock alpine head unit?
