Lol too bright? That's a thing? Just get brighter low beams ;)

The approach lighting not working was the biggest let down with the upgrade. I was looking forward to that feature the most. They still flash with the lock/unlock but they don't stay on when approaching. The departure lighting works but I don't have any use for that, so I ended up disabling that too.

LOL yes bright is a thing- I literally cant look at the car when I unlock it at night, and when at an intersection the people behind me get blasted. Low beams are already 55w morimoto HID with 4500k bulbs - so that's pretty much as bright as I'm willing to go. Thanks for the info

Im curious what signals you are running that are too bright? Maybe it'll get the attention of all the soccer moms who won't put their phones down around my neck of the woods.

These have built in resistors, so there is no hyper flash- but they are extremely bright in '14 housings.

Ahh.. Those must be crazy bright then to overpower the 55w kit lol. To me, the brighter the better and I'm really pleased with these X-VF's. Some of the reviews I saw said guys wished they were brighter but I really can't see the need for it on the 2014 - considering they fire both outward and back into the housing to light it up, they're perfect IMO. But mostly I got them because I don't like seeing a row of ugly LEDs in the housing and these have them all hidden. They look really trick in there I can take some close-up pics if you guys want.

Aw man, they are out of stock. I ordered some off Aliexpress - it'll take a while from China - but I may get some for my Tundra as well if they are as bright as they say.

Still super happy with how the headlight restoration turned out so I tried out a few more of the Chemical Guys products.

This is after applying their new Hydroslick ceramic coating, a sealer coat of Jetseal, and finally finishing with their Butter Wet Wax on top of that. My car is made of glass now lol. Also grabbed their aerosol trim restorer spray and the plastics have never looked better. Hopefully that holds up better than Mothers.. which is the worst product on earth lol.

Also ordered a different set of coilovers as I decided I wanted to dial in my front camber and realized needed to stiffen up the front end just a bit for my preferred driving style. The Basis Z kit will be up for sale soon if anyone is interested.

CRAP

You weren't kidding. Popped them into my front signals last night and hit the lock/unlock button and I now have a tan. Thank you!! This is exactly what I needed. They won't look so overpowered once I put my SNGL LED kit in. I may not put these in the rear, but definitely leaving them in the front.

LOL Yea, they're pretty bright. I ended up using a white sharpie paint pen to color over the LEDs and it made them slightly dimmer. I wonder how long they will last now, haha.

^^ Glad my thread was able to help someone do something lol. I can't see needing anything brighter than the Morimoto's, they're fantastic in these housings. Even with my 4 projectors/hids up front they turn signs amber at night and are very visible in the daylight. That's good enough for me.

In other news I threw on the new Tein Flex Z coilovers a few weeks ago and the quality of these is insane compared to the Basis kit. The ride is also immensely better. The suspension is quiet as a mouse, much more plush and corners even tighter than the Basis. All around a solid upgrade. If anyone is debating, the Flex Z kit is absolutely worth the extra $. With the pillowball top mounts I was also able to take out a bit of camber and flush up my front fitment. Super happy with the upgrade.

Made in Japan > Made in China

Updated shots of the sexy suspension.

And so you can just basically spin that collar around and lower/raise your suspension? Is it stiff/hard? It'd be cool to have a customizable suspension.

It has an amazing ride. Much better than the Basis Z and the Ksports/Bilsteins I had on my previous car.

The Basis Z kit adjusts by moving the spring up and down, but this creates a little bit of noise the way it's designed and sacrifices ride quality the lower you go.

The Flex Z kit has a genius way to adjust the ride height that makes front adjustments simple without affecting ride quality (skip to 2:46):

The stiffness is adjustable but even at full stiff it was smoother than the Basis Z kit it replaced. Per Tein you need to run 200 miles @ full stiff during the break in to help purge nitrogen from the system that could have made its way into the shock bodies when shipping. Now I have it set to full soft (-16 clicks from full stiff) and despite being plush it still corners amazingly fast. Best suspension I've had installed hands down. It can also connect to their EDFC unit which will allow you to make dampening changes to the suspension from inside the car or automatically via gps.. but that adds an extra $600+ to the bill and really isn't necessary on the tC.

Default 8.5 Wheel fitment

Was wondering how the fitment with the 18×8.5 is and also how much lower are you on the coils? Im on the TRD lowering springs (1 1/8" lower) and wanted to clean up my.fitment with some thiccer bois. Mind sharing a pic of the wheel fitment? (From a fender/wheel well angle)

There's a grip of pics in here if you view the whole thread.. The 18x8.5 wheels I have are just a better looking version of the stock wheels and 4lbs lighter per corner that still safely fit the stock tires. This is a safe and easy fitment that is perfect for the daily life. I have 5mm spacers all around and it's pretty flush, but I could have gone a little more aggressive if I wanted more scene points. 18x8.5 +25 is how the car is sitting with the spacers and front/rear camber adjustment upgrades and rolled rear fenders sitting around -1° camber all around. Without adding camber adjustment this fitment won't be flush at all in the rear. I also added extended wheel studs as the stockers were too short to safely support this wheel setup with the spacers.

I will take some new pics once I have the time though.

IMO the TRD springs don't give a noticeable drop and ride like rocks, so you'll be much happier with the ride quality and handling on any reputable coilover setup. I'm probably an inch lower in the back and 3/4" lower up front, but you can adjust coils to your preference.

Not too much to report here as the car is /done/ aside from maintenance, but decided to finally grab the e-brake boot that matches the rest of my center console. It's nice to have that all flowing together, but I still don't think and e-brake boot is worth $60 lol. Like the shift boot when I replaced it though, this one was also ripped. The OEM vinyl is SO cheap.

That being said, here's a boring shot of the completed interior with one extra mod that you can't really see lol.

Also yanked out the front Hawk pads last night as I still want better braking from this system. Replaced them with the Power Stop Z23's and the braking was immediately improved. Ordered a set for the rear right after the test drive. This is a way nicer kit as well as it comes with all necessary hardware and is ceramic like the factory pads. So far no noise and already about 25% stronger braking. The rear set should be here Saturday and will be going on as soon as they arrive. Finally will have good brakes again!

It looks great! I like the center arm rest cover with stitched edges.

Thanks man! I've had that for 2 years or so. I did it at the same time as my shift boot and got it with the extra padding (sooooo much more comfortable than stock). Was just waiting to do the e-brake as it doesn't really stand out, but lately the vinyl has been showing its age so I decided to finally swap it over to the matching scheme and stitching pattern. I'm really happy how it turned out, and it's very subtle which I'm always into.

In other news the rear Z23 pads showed up and went on Saturday. These brakes are SO much better than the Hawks. Definitely recommend if someone that reads this is needing brakes.

Did you just tape the toyota emblem onto your steering wheel? Looks pretty nice.

It's a specially made emblem for this purpose. Can find it on eBay it's for the FRS but fits this no problem. I would love a real Zelas airbag but $11 > $700 for such a small mod.
