Default Front License Plate bracket question..

I do not have a tC...yet, but I do have a question in regards to the mounting of the front plate.

On my current car some idiotic dealers drill two holes in the bumper itself even though the bracket that holds the plate is attached to the front grill, making the need for holes in the bumper unnecessary.

The plastic grill itself has two square areas with screw holes already, does the 2012 tC have this on the grill too? I live in a front plate State but have never had one in over 21 years and have no plans to start now.

two square areas with screw holes?

if u are talking about where you can put a tow hook...yes the tC2 has it...but they are not "supposed" to be for the license plate. the tC2 is "supposed" to have the bracket drilled into the bumper because there is no other way to put it (there are aftermarket MODs to change that)

if you want to avoid the drill holes...try to call the dealer BEFORE going to see if they have one that u want that hasnt been drilled yet

Actually, since I plan to never mount the plate I was hoping that it was setup already to accept the mounting, just in case. This helps dissuade the dealer from insisting the holes must be drilled.

In the case of my current car(RSX), the dealers that drilled simply ignored the fact that there were two holes in the grill to accept screws and the proper bracket and drilled holes to mount the plate directly to the bumper without using a bracket. How's that for stupidity and cheapness?

just try to not sound like an ___ and ask nicely if they got any tC2s without pre-drilled holes...or if you can order one without pre-drilled holes...

if u are cool, the dealership (unless they are crumby) should treat you right

but to answer your question...
nope, there is no place for the front license plate to go
the grill is smooth throughout, no holes. same with the bumper
the only place the plate would be mountable without making holes is to remove the tow hook covers and get the license plate mod that will screw in there

I just called my dealer when I ordered the RS7 and told the sales rep not to let my bumper get drilled. And look, no holes! Lol

My sales rep Said he had to hide it from his techs lol and had the service manager personally get it ready. Course I also paid my car in full.

Sounds good. I most likely will have to order the car anyway(want manual). I imagine I'd need to talk to several people there in advance because of the above mentioned part about mechanics not reading the note

Thanks for the replies.
