relay harness question
hey guys. So i heard that its not that great to just connect HIDs into fog lights cause those wires are smaller than low beam wires. So i bought a set of relay wire but I have some questions. I know how to connect the plugs into the bulbs, but i dont really know how to connect it to the battery. So i know that I have to connect the red wire to the + battery and ground the wire to the - battery. On my tc, the + battery has 2 screws. Which one am i suppose to connect it to? (a) or (b) shown in the picture. and Do i just unscrew the bulb and put the wire round thing inside, and screw the bulb/nut into the battery? and same thing for the negative wire on the battery?
thanks for helping out!

I would prefer A but B works too. A just makes it even because its the same screw/nut location on both sides.
Depending on how your relay is it should be an easy unscrew the nut, slip the wire in over the screw and tighten the nut back on.

ok so i tried installing the relay harness a few days ago. i plugged the relay into the ballast then i plugged the other side onto the negative and choice b according to the picture. But it didnt work, and there was no output. Then i just took the relay out and plugged it into the OEM wire. I was scared to try again because while i was tightening the nut into the battery with the wire it in there, it sparked a little bit and i got kinda freaked out so i took it out after i tried it. any help? thanks!

If your HID's don't turn on then first try reversing/flipping around the connector on the ballast. This usually solves most problems with HID's not turning on.
Just to make sure the proper procedure for the relay to battery that I would do is:
Disconnect the black - negative side from the battery
Disconnect the red + positive side from the battery
Connect the wires from the relay to the HID's, hopefully your HID's and relay came with a wiring diagram.
Connect the wires from the relay to the positive and negative side battery connectors (order doesn't matter)
Connect the red + positive side to the battery
Connect the black - negative side to the battery
The negative side will spark slightly when you bring it close to the battery. Just push it on quickly and tighten it up.
If you have 35W HID's in your low beams and fogs try connecting them to the OEM fog wires and see if they light up. You can even disconnect your current HID's from the low beams and connect your fog lights to OEM low beam wires just to see if it works and nothing was blown.

Man don't worry about the relay. Just hook them up to your foglight wires. 35W HID's don't run hot enough to burn through those wires. Not to mention that your fog light wires are connected to a relay as well

So this is what i did: i first loosened the negative terminal/unbolted the wire to add the relay harness onto it. Then i tightened it back onto the battery. Same for the positive but instead of the terminal, i unscrewed the top bulb, which leaves the terminal tight on the battery still. i unscrewed the top, put the positive(red) wire from the relay in there and screwed it back on. (thats when it sparked a bit and scared the ____ out of me.)
forgot to mention before the battery part, i plugged the other side of the plugs into the ballasts, which then connects to the bulb. Then i started my car, turned on the lights and both fog lights did not go on. Then i tried taking out the relay and just plugging OEM wire into the ballast and it works fine, like before.
I just cant seem to get it to work with the relay. I did encounter the part where i plugged the relay to the ballast BUT IT DID NOT CLICK. I pushed as hard as i could into the ballast but it seemed like it didnt fit/no click. Could that be the reason? If i were to turn the plug and tried plugging it into the ballast that way, it seemed like it wouldnt fit, but i didnt try.
Now im even scared to try just cause i saw spark, and im scared i might ruin the car.
haha yea i heard i just worry too much, but i feel like its better safe than sorry. I dont know if you have lows and fogs, but if you do, When u turn on both goes on, but when u turn lows off, does your fogs stay on for like about 1 more second before they turn off? my fogs turn off about 1 second after my lows. o_O normal?
