06 xA, Do the plugs need replaced at 30k?
OK, I have called two different Toyota dealers about the 30k maintenance for my 06 xA and they have given me a total of *three* different stories about whether the spark plugs need replaced or not.
First it was yes, then it was no, and then I got a maybe.
Could anyone give me the real story? I thought they were a longer life plug (~80k) but I could be wrong, and the dealers aren't making it any easier.
Thanks!

^ Ditto.
I think the manual calls for replacing the spark plugs every 30K or so, but I've known some people to go 100K on good plugs. But if you're worried about it drop the couple of bucks and get it done, you'll feel better and not have to worry about it again for a few years.

fugeelama is right about the replacing the plugs at 30k miles. On page 11 of the 2006 Scion xA Maintenance Guide, it says that the spark plugs should be replaced at 30k miles and thats it is required if you want to keep your emission control warranty.

Spark plugs should be cheap but I know that the dealer usually charges x2 as much as it should. You might want to take it to a different shop, but it is important that you document it by saving the receipt so your dealer can't void your warranty.

I picked up 4 NGK Iridium plugs to replace my stockers.
Stick with NGK when it comes to replacing the factory plugs, these engines don't like many other brands. NGK V-powers would work just fine too.

Any part not from toyota itself is considered "aftermarket." Putting aftermarket plugs is just one way for them to screw over your engine warranty....if anything goes wrong that can be linked to a spark or the firing inside the engine they can possibly blame it on the plugs and void your entire engine warranty. It's better to be safe then sorry.....Plus I can't imagine a set of stockers costing more then 12$
