BUZZING BEHIND SPEEDO
I sometimes have rattle/buzz coming from that general area. I can't tell if its the speedo, if its the head unit, or if its coming from the windshield/defroster vent area. What did the dealer do when they attempted to fix it?
They supposedly tokk apart the dash. Not sure how much they took apart. The buzz at times seems to be coming from the speedo then other times i cant tell. Its hard with all the glass to tell. I'd love to have someone drive it so that I could put my ear on the dash but I'm the only one who drives stick, b
I found the solution to the problem with the screen that is located under the cowl inlets. This is the area where air comes in for the heat and air cond. The windshield wiper shafts come out from the same area. The screen is there to keep out debris. Mine had a little buzz at highway speeds. To fix this, remove the cowl inlets. You need to secure the screens to the cover one of several ways. I used small zip-ties in two places on each screen. Simply push the tie through the screen from the inside and wrap around the grill and push back through and fasten on the inside. You could use some black or clear silicon on the inside of the grill to attach the screen more firmly if you don't want to punch bigger holes in the screen with the zip-ties. I did see sme time ago another post on this topic where silicon was used. As I recall it had pictures and that is where I got my idea for the zip-ties.
not yet. I looked at it the other day but I couldn't do too much because it was too cold and getting dark. I think it is going to warm up a little this weekend so I am going to pull the two parts of the cowl and drive it and see if it goes away. If it does that will tell me where it is. There appears to be some areas where plastic could be touching metal or glass and buzzing. Alittle silicone chalk between them might do the trick. I'll let everyone know what happens. b
