A few questions before taking a 3700 mile road trip!
I am changing my front brake pads and want some opinions on getting my rotors turned. There is no pulse, my pads still have a little meat on them. Should i go through the extra effort? Second I just got a K&N and iridium plugs in a effort to bump up my mpg a bit, any cheap or easy things to suggest? Third I am going to change my oil and have been running a synthetic blend anybody have any preference on full synthetic or any hard facts or results that suggest i should do any different?
This forum is great, any tech questions or worries I have had have been washed away! Kudos to Scion and everybody here for making so easy to own and maintain our wonderful little XA!
Our car-
2006 White Xa(a.k.a smudge)
42,000k
Our trip-WA>ID>MT>SD>MN>WI>MI>OH>PA>MD>VI>NC>SC>GA>FL
(anybody in the Tampa area?)
So I am thinking about dropping a blown Hemi in him, think I can pull it off for under $500?
Thanks!

Just change out the front disk brake pads and you will be fine,as long as it did not go metal to metal you will be fine.A fresh oil change may be needed as well (Casteroil 5w-30 syn or Royal Purple 5w-20)
Enjoy your long trip I've made several in the xA.

I concur with "jtc", I'd wait on the brake situation. Do it right, and get slotted roters when it's time, with good brake pads(Hawk).
As far as synthetic engine oil, for the $ I'd recommend Valvoline 5w-20 or 5w-30, or Penziol Platinum 5w-30.
**IF you have a MANUAL tranny: Another thing you can do, is go with synthetic gear oil = 2 quarts, and I'd recommend Amsoil stythetic = $13 per quart.
