Default beatrush under panel

Just bought an 06 xA. First, what is a beatrush under panel and 2nd, why does the xA need it more than any other car?

congrats on the xa. beatrush is a company that makes these aluminum underpanels. it cools the engine and is a better sliend against debris and other things that you might run over as opposed to the cheap plastic cover beneath the engine. it was the best investment i've ever made. find it here:

So, I finally got my car back. Like I said, I was driving on the highway around 75-80mph in fifth gear, which is around 4k RPM, when the engine took a dump. I was told the crank snapped, which also snapped a rod. The rogue rod punched out the block...

I had it towed to Maroone Toyota in South Florida. I had the Fidelity Platinum extended warranty, and they _reluctantly_ replaced the short block. I wasn't very happy with the service from both Maroone's service department and Fidelity. I think the Fidelity adjuster was expecting to find any wrong doing on my part. They had the tech take the oil pan off, and if they found anything fishy, they'd stick me with the bill. They found nothing suspicious. They also told the tech to take the cylinder head looking for, I assume, nitrous oxide residue...they found nothing. They finally gave the okay to cover the block under the warranty.

After they got the okay from Fidelity, that's when I stopped hearing from Maroone's service department. I could only contact the advisor by phone since I live in Orlando. I would call every other day just to check on the status. I would leave a message on the advisor's voicemail and he would rarely get back to me. When he did call back, he tried to make me feel guilty by saying that I over rev'd the engine and how they tried so hard to get it covered by warranty. He was a dick. My mom would try to call to check on the status, as well. I was told that the car would be done the Monday or Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I was in town for Thanksgiving and no phone call. When I called the dealership, they said it still had a status of being worked on. It got to the point where my sister, who worked at a close dealership, had to get her hands dirty. She stopped by the dealership to get the lowdown and the advisor treated her as if she was stupid. We finally complained to his manager who tried his best to make it all better.

My mom finally picked up the car last week. She drove it around and said the engine ran strong. Though, she kept getting stranded because the engine wouldn't turn. She brought it back to the dealer and had a family friend (lead mechanic) check it out before she drove it up to Orlando. He said the starter (harness?) was loose and that he had tightened it. Anyway, now the question is what I want to do with it. I was thinking about keeping the car, but now I'm just kinda meh about it.

Reading some other forums, it looks like Tamago had a thrown rod, too...so it's not that uncommon... Two Polar White xAs from Maroone Toyota/Scion with blown engines? Coincidence?

in many ways, absolutely. better gas mileage, lower rpm's at given speed, nice long gears (good for boost)

Hey mikochu, I guess my 2nd post was correct!

I've seen this happen at Nissan, especially with the SE-R guys...

Thats one of many reasons I traded my xa. After my muffler and header mod, I noticed one day from 25-4 grand it would sputter, miss and rumble and no power where it use to be. It idled and started ok. I thought it was just me since hte free-er flowing exhaust and ever quieting strup muffler was alllowing me to hear stuff that was always there. Turns out passengers noticed the lack of power and noise. After a bottle of injector cleaner, premium fuel and new plugs, it had no effect.

Sorry to hear about that, at least you got a new engine. I too got the extended warranty and my local dealer has a lifetim engine warranty.

Thanks for the very informative tread. I've resently noticed that the sound was a bit boubling on the acceleration and gas smelled inside the car. A dealer said it was something wrong with the exost. The viehicle soon will be out of warranty and this is not the first defect happened to it.
