Default Repaint Rear Bumper

Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. So I want to have my rear bumper repainted to fix the scratches that someone made on it : (

I just called the auto body shop (I'm in Massachusetts) that the local Scion dealership recommended and they said it should cost anywhere between $400-450.

Now the scratches aren't that big or heavy so I was wondering if this is alot to do that? They say the paint is really expensive. Is that true?

Thanks!!

Allie

I had my rear bumper repainted in January 2006 for $335.00 tax included. Shop around prices do vary a bit.

When I got into my highway interchange drifting accident (lol), I was able to get a new unpainted bumper for 100 and got it painted for another 100. Call me lucky.

Wow, that is good. Can I ask you guys something? This is my first car and it seems to get scratched very easy. I'm not sure how hard the other car must of hit my rear bumper but should it scratch so easily?

I know that when I bought my Scion there was another more expensive one witrh some Toyota super paint option and I'm now wondering if I should have opted for that one?

Scion paint is very thin, and prone to getting scratches/chips easily. Search the forums about scion paint (or don't, it'll make you feel better not knowing hehe)

allie, i live in miami too. my uncle works for south motors bmw and i'm sure he can pain your bumper for less than 300 like these ther rip offs are charging you. if you're interested, pm me and i'll send you his contact info.

and no the car wouldn't be painted in a backyard or anything. it would be done in an actual shop with a booth and all the other necessities.

Hi,

Thank you!! You're so sweet but I actually moved to Boston, MA about a month ago. I wish I could though. The thing that is so nice about Miami is that almost evry building has their own parking. Here the street parking is awful.....

good luck getting it fixed. you might wanna try the regional forums and ask there to find a good body shop that won't charge an arm and a leg.

Yikes.

I barely touched a mailbox (there was a car in my way when I was backing out of my driveway that should not have been parked there) and put a pretty ugly mar in the side of my car.

Anyone know if Toyota's no rust warranty covers places where the paint was scratched? I fully intend on getting it fixed, but in the meantime my baby has some spots exposed to the salt and things on the road for the snowstorm we just had. Eww.
