i haven't found one yet but if there is a way to change the maps I'm a tuner and would LOVE to tune this thing. it's clearly de-tuned for a smooth even (weak) torque curve. I can feel the ECU pull timing on hills which means it's just starving for 91 octaine gas and a better (leaner fuel and more timing) tune. I do custom tuning on my other cars but I've replaced the factory computer which I don't want to do on my scion.

if anyone hears of anything for changing the factory computer maps (some sort of handheld programmer or computer interface) let me know!

I have heard that the encryption on Toyota's ECUs are almost impossible to crack. Could be wrong, but I haven't heard of anyone on these boards being able to crack the ECU.

well, someone is re-tuning them for turbos and such! unless they are just adding a different ecu. if they are doing a piggyback witha turbo that would scare me especially if the injectors are switched. (which they need to be if you are making power)

As far as I knew, any turbo applications are using Emanage or a similar piggyback, not a different ECU.
