Exclamation Scion xA Fuel Filter Help!!!

Guys please help me!!!!

Ok here is the deal;

I have a Scion xA 2005, for about 3-4 days ago the car has been stalking when you accelerate at around 10-20mph; it just gets stuck and wont speed up for a sec or two then move normally. I check the intake everything is connected fine and all; yesterday the check engine light came up and i used a reader and read the code P0172. I looked it up saying could be the oxygen sensor and something with the fuel not being delivered correctly. Now the only thing that comes in mind is that i have never changed the fuel filter and i have 57,860 miles on my car. I went to auto parts and told me they don't have one for my car.

Now i need help in is has any other owner had the same problem and if so what did you do. Also if it is the fuel pump how do i remove it and change it; and i assume i have to buy it in the dealer.

Please guys any help would be great, i am afraid of moving the car far.

the fuel filter is in the gas tank and usually never ever has to be replaced. it is more likely the oxygen sensor.

p0172 is system too rich, bank 1, which means it is the o2 sensor, MAF sensor, or there could be a vacuum leak somewhere.

Thank Drax,

I figured because i was looking at the type of filter and its didn't look normal at all. And the engine seems to vibrate a lot like if its choking without ear, so most likely it is the senor... I think they go for about $60 bucks is it hard to replace?

no not use a universal o2 sensor. use only an OEM one.

it is easier to replace on the tC because the exhaust manifold is towards the front of the car, but on the xa, the exhaust manifold is between the engine and the firewall, so getting to it may be difficult to get to.

now, it could be the o2 sensor (pre-cat), but it could be something cheaper and easier to fix, like cleaning the MAF sensor, or checking for a vacuum leak. replacing that sensor is the most expensive and difficult step.

Yeah i was thinking that it might be the MAF sensor is dirty, it make sense because it started happening after a flood in my house and my intake is really close to the ground. Today i am going to take it apart an maybe dry it and clean it.

I have good news it wasn't none of the above.... What it was and ill say it as a warning to all the guys with an XA and cold air intake.

In Miami there is a lot of floods..... apparently during a flood a bit of water got into my MAF Sensor and just fired the thing. I went to the Auto Parts and bought a new one for $80 by returning your old damaged one. So thanks everyone for all you help and suggestions!
