Default '04 xA squelling in gear

46k miles, well maintained, but I have this squell that started slow, and now wont stop! I first thought it was the serpentine belt, which showed wear. Changed that, but it is still squeling and getting worse. Squell is only when in gear, not when in park, and sounds like some kind of bearing or belt problem. It is excerbated by the turning on of the a/c. (I did have the whole a/c replaced last summer due to malfunction). I have also noticed some shift problems at times into 4th (auto). Brakes are fine and not the cause. No difference with engine temp or speed now, though in the beggining only when cold was there slight noise. Any suggestions or input before I take it in?

I think so on the tranny too, but I can't get the dealer to see/feel that. I am thinking not on the torque converter now, because the sound truly seems to come from the side of the engine. I stand strong that is sounds like a bearing going bad and it just has to do with the serpentine belt wearing out so early!

I had someone else tell me that it is the tension pulley, which it isn't since there isn't one, but then the thought that it might be the water pump, pulley came into play. Right now, I am emailing with the parts guy at the dealer, who has comeback with the compressor clutch (yea me!). Lol, reckon it has to do with the new a/c they had toinstall about 8 months ago? The saga lives on!
