Default clutch noise

Hey guys hopefully u can help me with this. I have some clutch noise. It sounds like the clutch fork is ever so slightly resting on the throw out bearing and causing a metal to metal sound as if the fork is dragging on the throwout bearing without making it turn only because it is very low pressure. If I lightly rest my foot on the clutch pedal, putting pressure on the throwout bearing the noise goes away, but the moment I take my foot off the noise comes back in all gears and even at idle. I have backed the bolt on the pedal off all the way, which was not much to try and create some freeplay but these cars, as with many others don't have any free play in them as they are hydralic. So I have heard this noise for about 20k now and am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this. thanks guys! 05 XB 63k

you sound like you realy understand the problem.
something has come loose or has worn out and need to be fixed, only one thing for you to do, tear into it untill you find it.

ive seen a # of people having problems with the M trans after 30k. i might all depend on how rough we are on it, i know im a bit hard on mine.
do you have the TRD clutch?

Default origonal

No it is an original clutch and it still works just fine. I was looking on the manual that is on this site and it appears that there is supposed to be grease on the fork so that it is well lubricated when it hits the throwout bearing. So it sounds like mine is dry. The only way i know to get at it is to pull it out, which is not going to happen.

I did my clutch at about 80K, the clutch disk had plenty of meat in it but the pressure plate barely held the clutch disk in place. I was able to move the disk around while the pressure plate was still attached, remind you the disk had alot of meat left. I strongly suggest to those that beat on their clutch to upgrade to a better clutch and throwout bearing. BTW The OEM T/O bearing sounded horrible when I pulled it out.

I personally got a Stage 2+ Clutch from Spec Clutches. Its a little stronger and is still very streetable. Spec clutches come with the pressure plate, clutch disk, throw out bearing, and alignment tool. Thats what's needed, other than removing the flywheel and resurfacing. To be through I would get new flywheel and pressure plate bolts from the dealership.
