engine swaps possible for the box? (edited: need help)
are engine swaps possible for our boxes? if yes what kind? and form like seeing video and stuff with cars running motorcycle engines and turning into animals. "Will any high performance motorcycle enging fit in an XB that will make it like an animal? sounds crazy, but yes i'm really making this a goal and starting to put a lot of my free time into this. give me your ideas. thanks.

check out z cars- UK company who puts bike motors into mini coopers and elises. they basically cut out the rear and bolt in their subframe, very cool. The XB is a little on the porky side compared to an old mini. busa motors put out about 90 lbs torque, but the whole swap would probably save some weight overall, then again you could turbo etc. After I finish my lotus R1 project I am going to look for a wrecked XA for a major swap. I could almost do this cheaper than a turbo kit would be.
Not bolt in, though,
Not bolt in, though,
im going to put a ST205 3S-GTE in my xA..
239 BHP 223 TQ AWD TURBO with 7250 redline!!!
that gets 35 mpg (going 50)
Im going to keep the engine relativly stock when I swap it for maximum reliability and durability

If anybody wanted to do a swap, the easiest one will PROBABLY be a xB engine/trans from the new model. Provided it uses the same basic chassis as ours do now, they should have redone the mounts and wireing for the 'TC' engine to fit in it.
Buy a wrecked 2nd gen XB (shouldn't take long for a few to bite it) and pull the drivetrain/ecu/wireing, etc out of it. In Theory, again given the same chassis internally, it should bolt right in.

Why would you possibly think the 2nd gen xB would be built on the same platform as the first gen? The 2008 is a much larger car, heavier, longer wheelbase, longer overall, wider, and there's no way that the drivetrain is just going to "bolt in" to an older xB.
these things are never as easy as one speaks, even if it's plug N play. but if one has the money or a sugga mama
why not, money makes everything possible in the car world.

The engine compartment could be identical with only minor changes to the length of the overall chassis. Either way, I would bet the 08 has the parts required to turn a first gen box into a second gen, regarding drivetrain. Even if it's wider it could be as easy as shimming the hub assemblies to run a wider wheelbase and make up for it on a different offset rim.
I would also susspect you would think a Pontiac Montana Minivan and a Buick Regal would have totally different drivetrain setups... but wouldn't you know it... the engine is 99% drop in. Hmmm.
But sorry, I forgot this is a place where if one person doubts with their 'knowledge of all things everything' then everyone believes them and abandons the idea.
OK, no, I don't know this for a fact. But why would the second generation xB be even roughly based on the first generation xB when the drivetrain is completely different, along with the size of the vehicle? Does the tC drivetrain drop directly into a first gen xB? Does a Camry 2.4L drop directly into a first gen xB? So why would the second gen xB's 2.4L drop directly into the first gen? I would say it's 99% more likely that the 2.4's will swap directly from Camry to tC to second gen xB than that the second gen xB's motor will drop directly into a first gen.
And no, I wouldn't think that a Montana and a Regal are different drivetrain setups - everything under God's green earth has had the GM 3800 in it over the years, it seems.
So motor mounts? Same on the 2.4L as the 1.5? can you even shoehorn a 2.4L into the engine bay of a first gen xB with serious firewall modifications?
