you got it thats disheartining
I thought that intake was a copy of a YDR, which is a copy of a Fujita. I remember reding a thread recently that said it was a pretty good intake for the money.

This is the one, I think:

the pipe is much larger diameter than stock with a reducer coupling at the throttle body and the hose is before the MAF.

There's your answer. I think the other intakes have the same diameter as the throttle body. My Fujita does- no reducer to bridge the intake and the throttle body, just a straight piece of hose. The rest of the intake is the same diameter except the very end where the filter mounts.

that intake is bigger than my intake, so if its bigger the mass air flow sensor does not sit all the way down?

it has to do with too much air flowing into your throttle boby and intake manifold, the maf cannot recognize all of it, so it thinks there is a problems, so when you start it up, the computer senses way too much air, so it cuts out in order to save fuel and the engine. Hope that helps, i may be off on a little but for the most part, that seems to be your problem

Saw someone with a similar problem on an Echo intake. They created a filler to reduce the inner diameter of the intake around the MAF sensor.

The problem is not so much that ur getting more air into ur intake since this is the whole point of installing the intake. The problem is that the MAF gets thrown off with the increased intake size. The MAF is calibrated for the sizing that comes on ur car from the factory. The air passes over the wires of the MAF giving it the readings it needs so it can adjust the fuel, spark, and timing accordingly. Going to a bigger size intake size means that more air is getting into the engine, but since the MAF is calibrated for the smaller size tubing more uncalibrated air is reaching the engine. The computer thinks a certain amount of air is going to the engine and gives the fuel injectors n spark according, but again more air is going to the engine and now the knock sensors and O2 sensors r picking up different readings then they should be. The computer tries to adjust but can't because it doesn't know the correct amount of air getting in and can't figure out how to compensate. Now ur car boggs, idles rough, and has no power and is throwin codes like crazy.

Example: the 05-07 Mustang is set up the same way. Companies have intakes that don't need tunes but u can see that the intake tubing is significantly bigger before and after the MAF while the section where the MAF is remains the same size as to not throw the computer off. Going with a Bigger sized intake tubing all around will cause the motor to do the same thing as what's goin on with the original posters car. But the Mustang has a very good aftermarket and has handheld tuners that recalibrate the MAF for the bigger piping, and can accurately measure the incoming amount of air and take full advantage of the bigger piping.

Unless u can find someone who can retune the computer for the bigger intake tubing it will never work. Reputable compnaies design their intakes for this little snag and their products don't have any of these types of problems.

Is there some bubble wrap or styrofoam in side the pipe? Sometimes I put on a new pair of shoes and the wadded up paper is still in the toe.

Forget Fujita. Get the YDR (Injen knockoff) it works great for me just as it should. It's only 70 bucks instead of 150 plus.
Here is the current link to it for 69 bucks.

I returned to the seller and he promises a full refund. He claims lots of happy xB customers, but i highly doubt it. Still waiting on that refund.....also I have sent in a paypal dispute just in case. Ill let you know if he sends back the cash. This is a big DO NOT BUY FROM THE ABOVE LINK. This intake is faulty and will not work.
