Default Intake Manifold

How come there aren't aftermarket intake manifolds out to replace that plastic crap? I see header systems out, but this engine is backwards compared to all the other cars I've had. Header system is behind and intake in front. Looks like it'd be a little work to change out the headers in this thing.

all the new honda motors are like this now too. i can kinda see it having a little advantage beeing in the back as far as install. i had a 1 piece header on my g20 before and i had to drop the radiator out to get it in. so with the header being on the back on ours i rather drop out my exhuast than my radiator any day of the week. as far as the intake manifold goes i wish there was something out too.

A lot of cars have the header to the rear of the car. I think most hondas are backwards anyways. its more logical to have the header in the rear rather than the front, it requires less bends to get to the cat.

I met a guy about a week ago who is having an ITB setup custom engineered on an S2000. When it's done, a kit is supposed to be available.

I'm going to try to find out if the same company would be interested in fabing an ITB setup for the scion engine. That would be so sweet.

yea, that'd be nice. it seems like they made the car so it'd be able to get more power when you add mods. the exhaust piping is so damn small, it looks like 1" piping or something. you think they made it that way because they wanted people to mod it? 108hp is pretty weak, i haven't heard of a car with that little hp since the civic dx.

Are you kidding. First car I ever bought was an 87 tercel and that had less than 80hp. I got it for under $400 in a wreck, fixed it up myself from junk parts and it looked perfect. Later switched to a 4agze s/c, but when it was stock, that never impressed me nearly as much as the scion. That car blew chunx before me but there are worse things to be driving.

i mean nowadays. you hardly find cars with around 100hp. most have at least 120hp. yea, back in the day there were low hp cars. that's an 87 your talking about lol. my brother had a 93 hatch, had 92hp. slow as hell. barely made it up hills. you had to keep it in 2nd or 3rd to make it up at an average speed.

Tbblizzard, don't those other cars with the higher hp also weigh at least 1,000 pounds more than the Scions?

I'm very surprised with what the Scions can do with only 108 hp.......even in the automatic..............of course......I'm used to driving a car that is the weight equivalent of an Abrams tank.
