Converting xB to AWD is a real pain. First you'll have to cut out your rear section and dump your whole rear suspension system which is probably not worth the effort since xB already comes with decent "Traction Control", and in Japan, AWD model pushes bit of less HP then FWD model. Not to mention you have to change your exhaust system, since AWD model alters the piping and your muffler will be exiting on opposite side. Oh, you'll also lose luggage space too to accomodate differential you'll be installing which will need a extra room. I'm sure this will not stop hardcore modifiers from doing so.

i want to go faster. AWD isn't a big deal to me. I've had it in my audi. NOt too spectacular for straight line speed.

like I said if you guys want to go faster then either swap in a Starlet motor ( 3e-fte 1.3liter ) and swap out the bottom end with the paseo block ( 5e-fe 1.5liter) ... Then add a GT30 turbo you'll be in the 300+ whp ... There's a Vitz in Japan with 380fwhp with this setup and it pulls 10's all day long... I would personnaly just bolt on the S/C from blitz or swap in the Vitz RS-turbo motor 1NZ-FTE (150hp 145ft lbs). And still have the drivability ...

the 3e-fte is the older block than the 4e-fte... You might want to speak to Eric Lapka at www.ELPrototypes.com He swaps this motors into Tercels for like $2500.00 bucks ( I think ... but dont quote me on it )

people also swap the starlet motor for the 4agze high comp. i seens in car videos from a starlet that did that swap and it pulls on ferraris on the race track. there were tons of other mods on it, but it was fast.

yes your talking about the earlier Starlet ... 1982 to 1984 rwd models... The 3E-FTE and 4E-FTE came in the Japanese Domestic Market Starlets 1989 to 1996 FWD ( I think , not quite sure)...
