Squeaky Clutch..anyone else having this?
Hey -
Thought someone would know what the hell this sound is. Starting today when I press in the clutch it makes a squealing noise and also when I depress it. With the window down, it sounds like its right under the tire. The clutch grabs pretty well and doesn't look like to be any slippage when engaging/disengaging. What could this be? Thanks.

I got the same problem, its been acting up for a while, but i BEAT on my car, so i dont mind a little part breakage. Im not exactly sure which part it is, but there was an old forum on scionlife about this. If im not mistaken its either the pressure plate or throw out bearing.

most likely not the throwout bearing...
thats the quickest conclusion to justify, but most of the time thats not the case w/ our trannies. What I have found time and time again is the pivot where the fork from the slave cylinder meets (not the actual bearing) is what makes the noise. For whatever reason it dries out VERY easily and becomes brittle causing this squeak, and you may or may not notice it more when its rainign or moist outside.
Just what i hve experienced and found on my own.
