What makes the Injen intake so loud?
well, from experience, the shorter intakes usually do make more noise. also, the larger the diameter of the intake, and the more free flowing the filter, the more noise it will make. Given i have the AEM snake one, i did have an 88 200sx which i fabbed a short ram and my bro has a short ram on his pt.
lots of different things.
1. the size of the pipe
2. the material the pipe is made out of (most are made out of metal so the air resonates off the pipe making it sound louder then say plastic)
3. the filter is allowing more flow
4. the path the air needs to travel is considerably less and again, it is short and straight so less chance of the noise canceling itself out

check this out. on my aem afterparket "L" pipe. the filter has fallen off a few times. it's louder with the filter ON. thats how i can tell if the filter has come off. it gets quiet
