no light like that is on...I have seen something like "o/d off" lappear when I have accidently pushed in the button on the shifter. at least, that's how I remember it. now of course I'm wondering if I should have that button recessed...

has this just begun happening? has it been going on for a while ? has the car been involved in an accident or did you run over something ? Does it happen when the motor is cold or all the time, even after it has sufficiently warmed up? Obviously there are many things and situations that could cause what you are experiencing. plus many more I haven't even touched on. Just need a little more info first.

your on board computer might be malfunctioned. the computer tells what gear to be in based on how hard you press the pedal and the speed you are traveling. Also, auto xB's do not shift past 3rd gear when warming up (Blue Temp Light On). Also, they will not shift past 3rd gear with the O/D Off Light On.

i would say it has gotten progressively worse (or I have noticed it more, not so much that the problem is worse). the car has not been in an accident or run over anything.
thanks for the info about the blue light/shifting. I'm going to test that theory first thing in the morning...I have never paid attention to how long that light stays on.

Is it the last gear or when the torque converter normally locks up? Some people mistake the lock up for another gear change.
