I like the power my cars has now, but want to shift the powerband. I also have considered just switching the exhaust housing on my current turbo from a .63 to a .48, but I dont see it moving the spool-up more than a few hundred rpm.
GT28 T3 footed with a .48 A/R will provide faster spool AND may not pack as much of a top end punch (depends on manifold design, piping size, tune and exhaust diameter)

Me personally, I really liked the GT22 on this 1.5L 1NZ, but the max power you are looking for really is out of the range of that turbo. It's just plain out of steam by then.

yea a GT28rs t3 footed is what we are running on a customer's xB but with a .63 exhaust housing. Ill see how it does. I have my eye on a t3 super 60 right now.

Thank you, I have learned a lot working with my car, along with seeing other cars on our dyno. Seeing how different components affect a car's performance is fun knowledge to be gained.

here is a dyno pull from this past Sunday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X98WBCveUmk

Hey just an update : my current t3/4 stage 5 turbonetics turbo took a crap on me. I have a Garret T3 60 trim on the way. We are going to re-tune it next week to 20psi on pump gas, 30psi on C16. The powerband should be beast, I will post results.

286.5whp and 268.4 ftlb on pump. the powerband is fat, 100hp more at 4750 rpm compared to last turbo. It is wicked fast,3rd gear is blown away.

Before and after curves over-layed? What was the new turbo selected?

Was it a T3 "Super 60"

Per blown_xa request, this is with the PTUNING Spec turbo setup & PTUNING built short block, making over 286WHP on our Dyno Dynamics dyno:

^^

Very nice powerband. The torque curve looks absolutely delicious for the little 1nz. You guys sell this as a kit or is this a special one off project per customer request?

This was a one-off for my car, however we now produce the turbo manifold. http://www.ptuning.com/html/Item-Des...9&ModelDesc=xB

We are now completing another customers xB with this manifold coupled with a gt-28rs turbo using the existing Greddy turbo kit intercooler and piping. Dyno results for that car should be up within a week or so.

BigJohnxa... my MAF sensor is on the charge side, however it is not used with my current engine management (Haltec). The temperature sensor built in is used though.

so is there any innercooler piping that has a spot for the maf built in or do have to have it custom made?

Nice manifold. Simple. Clean. And looks like it flows well.

The red line was the Turbonetics turbo (previous turbo). As you can see, it sucked haha. I think it was out of it's efficiency range, t3/4 stage 5 wheels. It was given to me though brand new, so I can't really complain too much. Both are at the same boost (22psi) Greddy was at 20psi.

I must say, I can't imagine much more power in this car. Lighting up tires at highway speeds in a Scion xA is just funny.

Stage 5 wheel! Huh. That explains that line.

You're a highway rolla huh?

So what was your final total? how much was spent to make a 100hp car to 285hp?
