Continued....

Now someone asked "why the replacement valve cover?"

Well the reason is the one I replaced my original one with has a port for attaching the return feed from the turbo. The way this turbo setup operates is that the oil flows out of the turbo up to oil pump, out of the pump to the valve cover and back into the motor.

You might ask well how does it get into the turbo in the first place, well it is fed from your oil pressure sender to the turbo, in this case, by braided stainless steel line to the blue port.

Here is your oil pressure sender. How do I get to it? See it up there with the green wire?

Here is what I did. I removed the hood brace, the intake plenum and unbolted a coolant hose, all to reach the oil pressure sender to T in.

(5) 10 mm bolts.

The intake plenum removes using 12mm bolts and nuts. There are a few various hoses that need to be undone to help move it out of your way, I ended up backing the driverside IC pipe back out.

See it more clearly?

See how I just moved it out the way.

Shot of the injectors.

Unclip the plug on the Oil Pressure Sender. Using the stainless steel line T, screw the male side into the block CAREFULLY, and the Oil Pressure Sender to the other end and reattach the plug,
sorry I forgot to snap a shot of this before I put it back together.

Tomorrows install will include the Emanage, injectors and guages.

Keep in mind, this install has an expected timeframe of about 2 days. Full working Days. It is also being done by a guy who has never installed a turbo before, with no physical help from anyone, in his driveway using Snap-On tools. This vehicle has no sponsors (though willing to accept some) and all work done on it (aside from welding) has been done by me. My background is mechanical and electrical. Just showing that this can be done by anyone with some dedication.

As a special treat, you get to hear what my exhaust sounds like as I moved it in my driveway tonight.

Well there was a few problems that needed to be fixed with the exhaust. It techincally had 3 holes in it. So i tightened down the headers, put a front o2 sensor in and pluged a seconary rear o2 hole. now it sounds much better and the sound accually comes out the tail pipe.

There are a few problems being fixed at the current moment.
Current problem : No Boost

Posible Causes, blown turbo seals, or bad oil pump.

I dissasembled my TD05h-14b to find out the cause, and in the process of getting it back together managed to snap a smaller Piston Ring on the compressor shaft.

New rings are currently being shipped out and should arrive while im away at Tweeter Training in PA.

UPDATE TIME!!!:

Ok so 4 days later my piston ring shows up and I am able to finish rebuilding the turbo. Just to give you an idea, here is what I broke, and here is the new one that came in a 12X5X1 box full of peanuts.

Total stealth mode:

Now here is where I need your help oh gurus of F/I

Here is a 1 minute video I shot of my exhaust.
What you will see is virtually no smoke at idle, smoke at acceleration.
What you will hear, is my nice exhaust missing a resignator pipe and reloctated Cat and also the car bouncing off the rev limiter, EXCEPT, that is at 3000rpms. Listen very very closely and you might be able to hear the BOV letting off everytime I let off. Boost gauge sits at 15-20 VAC and goes up to 0 VAC when I accelerate. Idle changes a little but mostly sits at 1500rpms.

Anyway here is the link. 19.5MB

wow that turbo sits low. be careful with puddles, i know the twin turbo camaros who have the low mounted turbos have issues with that.

Latenight update.

So after spending 4 hours working with ProshopxB to try and figure out my problem, we resorted to removing the emanage and resetting the ecu. Doing this turned on no CEL or any other lights. Good sign number 1. Then I took it out for a run around the block and got past 3000rpms. Good sign #2. Then I opened her up a little bit, made boost. Good sign #3. Still smokes like a british pub, but that can be attributed to the 330cc injectors.

Thanks to rhythmnsmoke and ProshopxB for thier help diagnosing this. Tomorrow I am making a phone call to KY to see why the emanage is acting like this. If that doesn't work then I am removing the injectors and trying it after that.

Jason he is running super pig rich, with those injectors in( I can gurantee that).. He is getting smoke from oil that is still trapped in his exhuast/cat/ resinator that has not burned off yet from when the oil pump wasnt working correctly. It could take awhile for it turn burn off, unless he decideds to pull the exhaust out and completely clean it out.

Pat im glad we finally got somewhere last night.. Hopefully Kenny and Sean can put their 2cents in and help finally finish this project.. Ill hit you up when I get home from work.

you guys sure its not from to much oil pressure going to the turbo passing through the seals? These cars run insanely high oil pressure(about 80-85psi under load) for a turbo that only likes to see about 30 psi oil pressure...careful your not washing out your seals as we speak...simple solution on my box was an oil pressure restrictor on the oil line.

Good thought Vito.. but it already has a oil restrictor in line.. The oil was backing up in the turbo and going thru the seals.. but this was due to the oil pump issue that has been resolved (not pumping oil).. Now it is just residuals (SP) of oil trapped in the exhaust/cat and resinator..

Good looking out thou Vito, your still the man..

ohh, thats good then, in that case you shouldnt have anything to worry about...should just be excess oil burnoff that billy spoke of...good luck with it, cant wait to see her run!

Yea I could if I would. i got a bucket under my tailpipe now cause its dripping oil out the tip.

Accually Billy, This time around, I removed the regulator. I was told by the boys in Kentucky that it was not needed and it wasn't used on any other applications after that prototype. The oil pump being used is powerful enough to be used on a TT application. So in order to help clean up the engine bay a lil, I shortened it at least 9 inches by removing the regulator and extention piece.

I tell ya the internet is a wonderful thing, and Mr neon driver has been helping me from FL spending hours helping me tinker with my car instead of tinkering with his neon. ::tounge::
