Default Amp high input problem

I recently hooked up a single 12 to an amp and am usin the stock HU using high level inputs. When the car turns on there is no sound from the sub or speakers but if i unplug the high input from the amp then plug it back in everything works. any ideas on why this is happening?!?

Do you have the sub plugged into the woofer input on the back of the radio? Did you enable the sub on the radio. Changed the level to low.

I used high input cables so tapped into the rear speaker wires.

I've done this exact same thing and have had the exact same problem when I first installed my amp/sub. Sub/amp wouldn't come on, stereo system cut out completely, and when I turned the volume up to about 43 the whole stereo would just cut out. U have to get a low-level converter. Converts the high level speaker outputs into RCA low level outputs. I got one at Walmart for like $17 and have not had a problem since.

hey whatsup bud i recently had the same issue and here is the absolutely strange way i fixed it i have no idea why it works but it does on my ride...i have my remote amp turn on wire hooked to the grey wire off the radio harness, and then i have i think its a negative wire on right rear speaker hooked up and for some odd reason it works i don't question it cause i was foookin with it for 3 days and somehow this shiz worked so i left it at least till i can get me a sub-plug or line out converter

Get the LOC/line level converter like DriverXa said and call it a day...if your amp has RCA/low level inputs.

Be careful "hot swapping" wires and connectors! Usually should not do that.
