Default Amps in Hatch???

Anyone put their amps or any other equipment in their hatch? I mounted one of my amps in there and just curious if anyone else has also?

You mean in the back of the car? I think just about everybody has at least their subs in the rear.

I believe he means in the actual hatch of the car which would be the 5th/3rd door. I havent seen anyone do it but its quite possible... wiring would be a real big pain though and i've heard the xBs hatch is actually quite flimsy and it does feel flimsy to me as well. Like i was saying... it would be a real pain to run 4awg wire or anything bigger than that to run a powerful amp. Just my two cents

Believe me, it was a HUGE pain in the ___. I wont do it again.... I ran 4 sets of 12ga speaker wire, set of RCA's and an 8 ga power cable. There isnt very much room in the loom for all that, but I got it in there. Like I said, HUGE pain in the ___... But it looks good, it was definitley worth it. I am finishing up the install on my mids and highs this evening, I will try to snap off some decent pics of the amp and try to get it on here....

They must be surface mounted cuz there's not a lot of space in the hatch itself. I've got some light bars in mine... (still a work-in-progress)

Ill have to agree its a pain to run wires into the hatch. I had to run my rear view camera wiring through it since I mounted the cam in my third brake light and the plug on the end is about the size of 4awg wire. What I would suggest is to run a coat hanger through the grommet then put TONS of lithium grease into the grommet for lube. Attach whatever youre running through and itll slide through very easily.

i did that to my pathfinder back in 97...
to much trouble for anything worth while...

2 - 4ga wires + rca's + speaker wires + remote = a lot of wire lube and cussin'

it looked trick as hell, but not worth it to me anymore

Wow, be more specific then dimwit. Say the rear door, the fifth door, the rear hatch door, not just "hatch" which can mean other things.

and thats why they sell a carbon fibre HATCH not a carbon fibre fifth door.....
a$$

when somebody says they have a hatch back do you go into siezures tring to figure out what the hatch is????

and if he said rear door, would you have thought the door behind the drivers door???

hatch or liftgate are proper terms to describe it...
