haha i feel stupid  i didnt even know you could! i think if you're doing a lot of aftermarket jump up to a red top or yellow top optima and forget the stock one because its not real great in the first place. i will do for stock and mild stuff but if you're doing quite a bit just get a new one

I bought some terminals from Knukonceptz.com and they seem to work well with my Optima.

They offer 1 - 0/1 ga, 1 - 4 ga and 1 topmount connections.

I mounted the factory positive connection to the topmount position on the new battery terminal. I just took a piece of 1/4" mild steel I had sitting around and cut/ground it down to the propper shape and fitment and bolted it onto the top. Then connected my 0ga amp cables into the terminals, wasnt very hard.

Here is the model number of the Optima I am using.

Cut the negative stock terminal off and strip the factory ground wires and install into the new negative terminal. You dont need the factory terminal on the battery along with the new terminal.

Sorry I just realized what you meant by 'under' the other cable... No i just cut that puney thing off and ran my 0ga ground wire to the same location after grinding the paint off making a clean surface. The with the other factory wire I just installed it into the new terminal in the 4ga mounting location. Hope that makes sense.

so, you cut the ring of the + terminal off and mounted the wires on the top of the new terminal.

If you use these connectorss: http://www.jlaudio.com/ECS/btc.html you not have to cut off the +OEM ring terminal. This connector comes with an insert that allows you to connect the factory ring terminal with no hacking needed.

The car is running perfect, no light dimming either with the Optima and the 3 farad cap. I am very satisfied with it :D
