I put 3mm blue LEDs in place of the incandescent (sp?) bulbs on the HVAC controls - looks nice except for 2 issues:
* The LEDs are very tightly focused so the light has a visible center, and fades off on the outside edges. I've ordered some fresnel lens caps for the LEDS that should take care of this - I'll post when they show up.
* The dimmer is set up for incandescant bulbs in the HVAC, so the LEDS don't respond on a smooth curve like the other lights.

Also - the true blue makes the red part of the temperature control invisible at night - what with no red light coming from the lamp...

You can file the ends off your LEDs to make them diffuse better.

^ werd!

That is a good technique. Use a dremel, a metal file, sand paper, etc. File them down flat.

If you want 3mm or 5mm LEDs: http://www.oznium.com/led

And by the way, Oznium has a howto on changing the lights in a camaro's door switch that's directly applicable to the scion AC lights (same part).

Oznium,

While I did just order 50 bright green's from ya'll, there are a few things I do like better about that other site.

How to hook up LEDs
is well written and understandable for a total noob. Especially about hooking them up in parallel.

And their spec sheet for each LED has alot more information. Though I don't like their little disclaimer which I interpret as "If you don't get this exact LED it's not our problem"

Like I said, I still went with you (and will again) but I'd like to see more info listed for the LED's like is the listed mcd the max or the typical? What's the typical V for them instead of just the max V? Small things like that make me more confident buying sight unseen.

Thanks for the order Shadetree. I agree, and will work on those 2 things.
