Default To do or not to do: 19" screen for the back!

I am using a tablet laptop (see link in sig) in my scion xB, between the driver and passenger/dash mounted. after a recent road trip, i realized that although the passenger can watch wahtever is playing the people in the rear can not...

My solution: I want to put an LCD screen - between 14 and 19 inches in the rear, between the driver and passenger seats, so that the people in the back can watch what we're seeing in the front...

my question is - is 19" too big? the only reason I am considering the 19" is that it is $199 and it's a brand new dell screen. A brand new dell 15" willl run me $150...

I figure it's worth the extra $49 to spring for the larger screen but will it be too large for the people in the rear?

the space between the rear seat and the place i wanna mount it is about 2.5 feet... to me, i think the 19 would be too big.... but it'd be cool @ nite cuz other drivers would look in.... l0l.....

anyway, just wanna hear your thoughts, rants, likes, dislikes and disses. lol.

Well if I had the cash I would do it... But I dont know if I like where you want to mount it. only because if you or the passanger
wants to move there sit and or recline them it looks like it would hit the TV... other than that I say Go for it......

yo dude - cool you're in new york too!

I found this seller on craigslist (newyork.craigslist.org) in the computers section... they sell brand new, not refurb'd DELL flat panel monitors for cheap! that's the only reason why i am thinking about putting such a large size monitor in the back!

this seller sells 15" flat panels for $149, 17" flat panel with printer for $175 and the 19" flat panel for $199!!! they're located in manhattan, on broadway, between 21st and 22nd streets. check out craigslist and you'll see this dude! the best part is that they're all dell monitors!

As for the reclining seats - yeah, i had thought about that but i think i can put up with moving the monitor when someone wants to recline the seat.. this monitor is going to be mounted in a way that would make it easy to remove, so i dnot see this being an issue...

How much power will the monitors pull from your battery?

Also, how do you power them? Would you have to get a box of sorts to plug into?

You realize that you will loose your ability to use your rearview mirrior. But if installed by someone that knows what they are doing I bet it would look sick!!!

If you take a look at the pics, you can see that I will not lose rear-view visibility. The TOP of the lcd monitor will be in line with the area beneath the "headrest" on both the driver and passenger chair... click on the 2 links i have in my 1st post to see what i mean...

As for power, I will be using a cig. lighter invertor (300 watts) to power it. I won't be using the monitor all the time so it won't be that annoying to plug it in ;]
