turn on the car to ACC holding down the A button, when the line across the bottom starts flashing, let go of the A button and hold down the appropriate buttons for the message you are wishing to display.

 

I kinow I am a newbie on the boards and that i need to earn my place... but this was the easiest thing about the car. I had a more difficult time learning to adjust the position of the driver's seat.

The first thing my salesperson did when I finished the purchase was show me to the audio system owner's manual. The instructions in there are soo easy. If the custom test was hard to do... I wonder how your driving skills are. Just kidding!

I think Japanese text on my radio would be about as cool as "racing seats" in my 160hp car. But quite a few people on here think that's stylish too.

insert cd and set to track number 2, press and hold 'Folder Down' and 'Text'
simultaneously and turn the key so 'ACC' is off.

It works great. It is only the greeting like the others, just says Scion in cool Japaneese text when you first start up.

 

I must be doing something wrong, i turn the car to acc then insert cd then press track up to track 2 then i hold down folder down and text and turn the key so the car is off. It still saids scion =/ do i have to change it to what i want it to say first?!?!?

 

It worked great on mine... are you using an audio or mp3 disc? I know it did that with a standard audio cd... may not work if it is an mp3 disc??

 

It works.. I got the Scion in Japanese going... its pretty cool.

Now...if I could only get it to scroll...we would all be money!

If you look in the back of the radio manual it shows you how to customize your own message. I think its the last page.

I don't think there is an autoscroll, but you can hold down the text button for a few seconds for it to scroll through the name of song, artist, etc. on an mp3.

 

yeah, we new that, but we are still hoping for scrolling text, even if it is futile, futile efforts are what keep us sane.

You would think that some tech guy would figure out a way to make this happen, then we could all go to SCION and have them fix it.

I figured out how to get auto scrolling text...

First start the car...
drive approximately 1 mile
turn the car off
go to the nearest convenience store...
buy some scotch tape
and tape the damn text button down
start the car again...
