in a month or so, i should be ready to have a new head unit installed in my xa. i have never been a big stereo guy and dont really know too much beyond the basics. i would like to see what some of you recommend that i get. i am looking for a single din, cd, mp3, has to be ipod ready (would prefer jack in the front so i dont need to buy additional cable) would like it to be bluetooth (but not necessary) would like the option of being able to change the color of the radio (again, not necessary) as for price range, i would say under $500. thanks
The best advice I can give is to go to a store of your choice, take a look at the decks and pick one YOU like. I can tell you all day to buy Pioneer, but then again you do not ride in my box with me. In the end, you will pick one that suits your needs. I will say to stay with the more prominent brands such as Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, JVC, Sony Eclipse and so on. Remember it is like asking whether someone likes Coke or Pepsi. It is what they like, not you.
With that said, I like Pioneer, but don't take my word for it!

I'd have to agree with the previous 2 posters... I could share my experiences with you and give you the advise you are asking for but the decision needs to be yours and I would not want to influence your decision either way, even if you are asking for it.

When it comes to audio equipment everyone has different opinions. For the most part you will not hear much difference between the major name brands. There's just a difference in appearance and functions.
I used to buy Alpine but every single unit had the CD player fail sometime between the 2 and 3 year mark. I have switched to Pioneer now. They make good head units with plenty of functions.
I suggest looking around at all your local stores that stock car audio equipment and find what you like. Then get on Ebay and see if you can find the same unit from a trusted seller. I bought my unit for $100 less on Ebay than I could find in a store or on Websites.
