The first thing you need are speakers...they are the weakest link in the audio chain. I personally use CDT audio HD series components and they are amazing speakers and can be found at a reasonable price. Ultimately the only way you'll have clear sound at ALL volume levels is to have an external amplifier...I've never seen a head unit that could provide enough power for a set of speakers without going into clipping at high volumes. So bottom line you need good speakers (fronts are way more important than rears if you talk to any audiophile) and an amplifier. Ideally I'd say to go with a 4 or 5 channel amp and adding a small sub just so you can experience the entire frequency range the way it's meant to be.

^^ even a HU hooked to an external amp will induce clipping at high volumes.... that's why it's best(allthough not required) to use an oscilliscope to check what volume your HU starts sending a clipped signal, then move to your amps and adjust your gains up untill you hit the clipped signal going to the speakers and back the gains off a notch...

good point...the bottom line is still that you'd need an amplifier (properly set, of course) to be able to drive the speakers at high volumes without distortion.

The hummer is class 2 it also has a class 2 amp meaning that you need the trucks BCU to turn it on. The amp is Equalized for the truck meaning that once you install it into an xb it is not even going to sound at all like it does in your truck. The bose speakers are not going to drop right into the xb either it would require alot of modification to both the car and speakers. My guess being owning a shop. Your looking at more in labor to install a basic bose system than a good headunit,amp,4speakers would cost in the aftermarket world. Buying audio is easy Just buy what sounds good to you. You drive the car you should like the sound. brans are the least of your worries. You can easily upgrade to a system that sounds better then your truck for under $1000

I would say the opposite...
not all manufacturers make great equipment across the board. some make great amps but their speakers are weak. some make great headunits but everything else is not as great.

look around, find out what other people are using, ask them if they like the equipment. there is nothing wrong with mixing and matching equipment. just look at some of the top compeditors out there, they mix and match alot.

from wat i learned... the bose system on that come stock on some cars will never sound the same if u take it out nd put it on a different car.. main reason is because... bose engineered the sound to be perfect in the air space of that car nd that car only...

o nd wn it mix nd matching it's cool, but you cant go wrong wid the same brand all around... i mean ive heard a memphis dounble stack with focal inboards nd man... it hits nd it's so friggin clear!!!!! lol!!

digging this up from the graveyard, but Bose measures each car and tunes the system to each car's individual soundstage, and whilst it may sound to your liking in the H2, the xB has a different interior and so it may sound a lot worse. I know they even account for teh materials used in the interior, and also the difference of having a seat with someone in it or not because the acoustics are different.

Thanks for the reply ;]

At the time I traded my Scion in (Oct 09), I still had the stock system in there which
(with the addition of a nice sub) was really all i needed. i'm glad i saved the cash and didn't go nuts with it :D
