Default I messed it up...please help me fix my dash!

I was using a Glade air freshener in the left center air vent. Today I noticed the oil had spilt down the side. When I went to clean it, the silver paint came off with it. What can I do? I'm looking for an inexpensive way to fix. Thanks.

This isn't mine and doesn't show the damage, but the silver piece that the arrows are pointing to are what I'm talking about. By the way, does this piece come off? How?

you can take the piece off by removing (pulling) the climate control ***** toward you. below that is two screws. remove them. begin to pull up on the center piece from the bottom.

you can totally paint it.

Short of replacement or repainting it I don't think there is much you can do about it. However pulling the center console panel out and repainting it is not that hard. I think in the DIY section they have a walkthrough on how to take the thing apart. It's really easy, I've done it a billion times. It'll be a nice mod. Also do a search on repainting the plastic parts, a lot of people do it as a mod. Good luck!

Those pieces just pop off. Get something in behind them and carefully pry. They will pop right out. As far as fixing them goes, I guess you could try repainting them or just replace them.

Take it off and paint it...like everyone says it's super easy (I literally took mine on/off about 10 times this past weekend)...Use the Tech Section, believe me it helps

yeah, the glade totally ate the paint. really really ____ed me off. i've got a friend who has painted stuff like this before but he said we would have to wait until we got some warmer weather to do it. so now i have to stare at a big ugly mess while driving and hope no one else sees it. as far as replacing them? where could i get those pieces at? i called my dealership and the only thing they could offer was a carbon fiber piece for $230 to replace that whole console. does anyone know where i could replace those pieces?

A good wrecking yard can get on the national network and find the pieces for you. There's been more than a few totalled xBs out there.

As far as using Glade or any other type of air freshener in your car, why mask odor with perfume? Why not eliminate odor completely and restore that new car smell without perfumes, sprays, oils, gels or dangly things? Do it electronically! PM me for info.
