Is an iPod upgrade really $900?
2006A . . . yes, like I said, the unit allows you to control your iPod just like you can with the iPod itself. You can select Playlists, Album, Artist, etc. etc. and whe you are in your various areas, you can move back and forth between tracks by turning the dial, etc. Maybe you should take you iPod to the dealer and then give the head unit a "test drive" to assure yourself it does everything you want it to do that way you either will know the upgrade is for you, or isn't. It would be a shame for you to lay down $260 and be disappointed if it doesn't do all you want. I'm happy with it and is just what I wanted to do. I suffered through FM receivers, AUX cables, etc. and this has done the trick for me.
Well, I don't know how many more ways I can tell you that the iPod upgrade allows you to control the iPod from the head unit, but it does. If you get it, I think you will like the convenience. Good luck to you.

$260 for an upgrade is ridiculous.
I'm going to my local audio store today, after a guy at my work looked through my options w/the iPod upgrade. Seems the Pioneer 2006 stereos are ready to have an iPod hookup installed: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...756407,00.html
Pioneer cites the list price as $140 for this piece, but I called my local audio store and they quoted $99 for the piece, and I can expect maybe $50 installation.
So I could have paid $260 for the upgrade,
and, instead, I'm getting it done for about $149.
The moral to the story: GO TO AN AUDIO SPECIALIST and ask them if you can use the Pioneer piece in your Scion stereo; bring your parts # or what-not, get a quote, and check their installation pricing.

binsk and toyataisme...
Do either of you have the Toyota part number for the iPod head unit and/or cable?
I think I can do this install myself (and I'd be happy to document this) but I need the Toyota part numbers to order the head unit.
Thanks in advance...

Check out the cheap rimms they add and how much they charge,,,,unbelievable $2,500 dollars for pep boys looking rims.

I think I've decided against the Ipod integration. I doubt it works with podcasts from what I have gleamed from the Net and it still means my Ipod will be sitting in the center console (in the XA). If the XA had a hide-away Ipod jack installation, I would definitely go with it.
I think I'll go test out my PocketDock at the local dealer before truly deciding, though.
i called Carson Scion, South Bay Scion, Manhattan Beach Scion, and Glendora Scion and they all said that they were not sure if they could put a 2006 HU and ipod adapter in a 2005 xB
actually...i called Glendora and asked for parts, and they transferred me to service, and then service transferred me to parts, so i just hanged up
someone please give me a referral

the pocket dock will not work with a car charger. it uses a usb input/output and a 3.5 out. i'm getting a pocketdock but......now i wont be able to use my car charger..... argh...... i think i'm gonna just live with the internal amped output.
