The aftermarket alarms that we have used will operate the keyless entry using the new remotes so you will still carry just one. I'm sure if you ask your dealer or a professional installer, they can tell you exactly what they have available, but it shouldn't effect anything on your car.

 

As promised, here is a picture of the tC's key in the ignition. When I cropped the picture, I left in the wiper stalk for size reference.

the key is pretty cool, got to hold one in my hand and turn it. Feels like...a key. =o)

If anyone else gets to do this...watch the guages do its full sweep...its so cool! i love it. its probably one of my favorite things about the tC.

Also, if anyone has ever opened the hatch to the new prius, the tC has the same touch handle. If you haven't you all should go to a dealer and open the hatch...w/o the smart key. Its pretty cool.

 

Touch handle? Is this different from the xB's electric release handle? Sounds pretty neat.

Also, is the tC key/fob combo going to be carried over to the rest of the Scion line in the future? For now, I wonder if someone would be able to program a tC key to work with an xA or xB?

Might as well introduce myself since i'm new here...

I'm 17, and currently have an '03 Saturn Ion, got it new for my first car when I turned 16...I like it, but if the Scions were out in my area a year ago I would be driving an xB right now...oh well. I am hoping to trade the Saturn in a couple years, or sell it to my brother who will be getting his license around that time...then I'll get my Scion...xB or tC...haven't decided yet

For those of us who've never owned anything short of a piece of *nevermind*, it's a big step up. Got the Scion Security package, can't wait, regardless of how and what it exactly is!
