Default Need an amp recommendation

Hey guys and gals

I could use your help on getting a separate amplifier for my factory-installed bazooka sub in my 2005 TC. I recently had Infinity component speakers installed in the front doors powered by an Infinity amplifier and it rocks...but since only the speakers are amped, at high volumes they overpower the bass from the sub. Are there any good, small sub amps out there that will work with the factory subwoofer?

I originally wanted to use my 4 channel Infinity amp to also power my subwoofer, but the installers believed that the amp would be too powerful for the sub, so it looks like I'll have to get another amp.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

go with the 4 channel infinity amp. power the components with 2 channels from the infinity amp. take out the bazooka woofer, replace that with a different 10" sub. bridge the other 2 channels from the amp and use them to power your new 10". that's the best way to go. go on ebay and get yourself a good sub for under $150. the bazooka is decent with stock speakers and stuff, but since u put in good components already, do the sub right as well.

Don't buy another amp for the bazooka. You can hook up your amp and turn the gain down to match the capabilities of the bazooka until you are ready to buy another sub.

I am going to agree with chadfo on this one.

Bazooka is not the best sub out there. So why would you waste money on overpowering it when you could just save up just a little longer for something better.

If youre going to get an amp though, check out http://www.audiobahn.com they are hands down, among the elite in amp/sub makers. I think they make the very best in subwoofers, just look at the size of their voice coils and magnets. HEEEUUGE!!

Audiobahn isn't one of the elite, so I'm not sure where you got that from. They do make decent stuff, but for the same price you could find better.

If you want to stick with the bazooka sub for now, just hook up the infinity amp like chadfo said. Adjust the gain accordingly and you'll be find until you are ready to upgrade.

Now if you want to upgrade, whats your "comfortable" budget? There is alot of nice stuff out there.

really really not trying to flame, but as the poster before said, if you think audiobahn is an elite company you really need to look around. They are way overpriced for what you get and the SQ on their subs and such is not that great. If you are looking for a sub I'd check out elemental designs, because for the price they are one of the best out there, or maybe something lower end alpine or jl audio.

As for amps, if it powering your sub, bepending on how much you want to spend, Id go with Jl Audio, new alpine, or some older Rockford Fosgate. You could even match your amps and get a Infinity amp. Just a thought.

audiobahn is made by the company that makes alot of knock offs and cheap amps, they are not very good and have horrible realiablity, get an ARC audio, or Zapco. you get what you pay for........those amps both have very clean sound and very relaible. and if your looking for speakers get Focal and Almumapro, that is what i run in my accord and it is very clean and very loud at high volume and NO distortion.
