Problem(wiring, Luminics) Updated with Pics
Thank God I bought the PIAA Plasma Spark Blue bulbs, I was concerned when I saw Luminics sell for 3x cheaper. Something just didn't seem right. I am a die hard PIAA fan for my current and last 3 non-hid cars (the RX had factory HIDs), but fully understand why peolpe buy the other newbie brand. PIAA has been around forever...

I am in no way endorsing that site, it was just the first I came across searching the internet. But as you can see in that kit, there are provisions for a relay, additional ground, and connection to the battery + lead. If you want to run high wattage bulbs, this is the ONLY way to prevent your stock harness from possibly burning out. Do not get those "plug and play" pigtail harnesses, they only add length, and probably more resistance in the circuit due to additional connector contacts. I mean, you already have one set of connectors to worry about with the stock harness, with those pigtail harness add ons, you add ANOTHER SET!
I also checked Luminicsdirect website and the price did triple, though it looks like a piece of junk - as I suspected - too good to be true.
Anybody have problems with PIAA bulbs? I have the PIAA Plasma Spark Blues but getting worried that Scion wiring harness may not be up to par with other manufacturers.

Thinking about it some more, I really dont think its the wattage thats doing it(3-4 watts doesnt seem like it would be much more then possible normal varience in the tollerance of stock bulbs). Seems to be a fitment issue in the connector itself, causing the arcing and thus damage to the connector. Anyone try to take a pic of the connector in the bulbs with problems and compare them to the stock bulbs? Pics prior to damage of course lol.
Ok my driver side harness is fried.
Going back to stock lamps after the repair till I get my HID kit!
Also noticed some deformation on the bulbs when I removed them... Kind of surprised this company is not standing behind their product. It must cost them close to nothing to manufacture these bulbs and the harness they now sell. I figure the least they could do is offer the harness they now make at no charge to the sets purchased directly from them. On well... Pass on the word I suppose

Passenger one just fried last week even thought I took them out some time ago...
Don't run these without the upgraded harness guys...
Its a pain in the ___ to take it into the dealer just for this!

I'm betting that the blades on the stock bulbs are thicker than the replacements and it stretches out the connectors. When you put in the thinner blades, they don't make a tight connection, causing the heat and meltdowns.
ALL the replacement connectors/harnesses have tighter connectors to make up the difference.
I'll be replacing my stockers shortly. I'll be measuring them to verify.
