Default Rockfords wont work!

Just a warning if any one wants to use rockford speakers in thier box they are way to deep so I am going to go get type s alpines. Oh and also I was wondering what is everyone using for the dash speakers because im thinking of just putting some power acoustic tweeters in.

as in too deep... do you mean depth wise (mounting), or sound wise?

3/4" mdf bracket w/ 3/4" mdf spacer will allow for an extra 1 1/2" of depth... what were you using for the mount?

^^^^^ What he said. There are few 6.5s that will fit without some type of bracket that will support the speaker and bring it in more.

The Alpine Type-S components would be a good match....They also come with spacers so you won't have to make any. And avoid just adding tweeter to an existing system. Want more highs? Get components.

I'm not sure on mounting it because a shop was doing it, they said they tried using spacers but it was a no go so the install guy recomended getting 6 1/2 alpine s and 4 in infinitys for the dash. the guy said if i wanted components they would have to cut a whole in the door so i dont want that.

cut a hole in the door for what?? the tweeter??? it can be mounted in the factory dash spot using 1/4" mdf or something of the sort to make a bracket. One guy on here made some out of Lexan or Plexi-glass or something. Doesn't sound like that shop is very ingenuitous.

I personally prefer the sounds of Boston Acoustics, Elemental Design, Focal, JL, CDT, and a few others.... The eD(i)6500s are at the top of my list for the time, that will be my next set of components.
