Default Specs on Head Unit

I'm looking at buying a Scion TC 05' Model, and I'm trying to find the specs of the single disc cd player that comes with it. I know its a pioneer, and it reads mp3 cd's. But what is the model number? I want to see what all the mp3 capabilities of it are.

Does it read variable bit rate mp3's. Does it pick up in the song where it left off when the car was turned off, or does it start back at song one. How is track skipping IE I want to skip to track 100, do I have to hit next trak 99 times? Or is there a better way?

Any information about the stereo would be helpful.

Also I'm not a major audiophile, but I do like decent sound quality. How are the default speakers that come with this unit? I don't need loud obnoxious music. But I want it to sound decent.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I'm going to answer as much as I can.

- It's manufactured by pioneer especially for the scion car, meaning I don't think it has a specific model number you can go onto pioneer and look up.

It reads variable bit rates. It continues where it left off when you turn the radio and/or car off. I *THINK* you can skip multiple tracks, like 10 at a time, via two of the numbers. I don't know because I organize mine in folders, which you can go from folder to folder by one click.

The sound is very descent.

Thanks for the quick response. The reason I asked about the continues where you left off, is because I listen to mp3 audio books, and wanted to make sure I don't have to wait for the end of a chapter to get out of the car.

I do folders too, so I wouldn't necessarily need to jump 100 tracks, but I know a lot of "cheap" units only let you go one track at a time. But it sounds like scion and pioneer made a smart choice about what they put in the standard unit. Looks like I won't have to go out and buy another cd player for it when I get the car.

Thanks again for the help and info.

As far as my experience goes, I'm not a big fan of the head unit nor the stock speakers. I've looked into finding "Easy Fit" head units on Crutchfield but none exist... all need a template / blocker for the large space (double DIN) the factory unit takes. I am looking into replacing the component speakers as well. Anyone have any suggestions?

Here was my previous setup in my old that sounded at least doubly better:

------------------------------------------------
JVC KD-DV5000 CD / CDR / CDRW Receiver
Infinity Kappa 693 3-way 5.25 speakers
------------------------------------------------

As you can tell I'm not very into car audio, *but* I am a home audiophile and have sharp ears (or at least I'd like to think...). ;)

Good god, talk about sticker shock!!! Nice though but with no XM radio, I gotta pass on that... I actually like the stock head unit. When you crank it, it sounds nice and with mp3 capability, i'll be good for now. I miss my pioneer 4600mp though.
