Default Underseat box... Eh.

I have been trying to get a sub in the xb for awhile now and finally thought I had the answer. I found a sub box that goes under the seat at my buddies shop. It's only .3 cu ft of air space so I stuffed some fiber fill in there and mounted a kicker comp 10" sub. Powered by two channels bridged from a Earthquake 4 channel amp it sounds... eh, Okay I guess. Yes it's under the seat so I can feel it, but it's just not what I want. I went from two fosgate 10's hooked to the sub channel of a 5 channel orion to what i got now and it just doesn't satisfy me. I guess I'll keep looking and think more about putting a box in the cargo area. I have a 4runner and a Corolla so I can use one of them for grocery shopping and such.

Does anyone like the way their under seat boxes sound? Whats your set up if you do?

Is the .3 cu/ft recommended volume for your sub?

The 10" eD subs, optimized for a small box, still need .5 per driver. Maybe the box too small? Also, how much power? Small, sealed setups need a fair amount of wrms.

I had a pair of 11Kv2's in a 1 cu/ft total box. Sounded pretty good, did not take a ton of room. IIRC, 27" x 13" x 8".

I can vouch for them, great company, great products.

I think the box is just too small. I am going to try my extra wedge box in the cargo area after I move see if that makes a difference...

Kicker Comp wants at least 1 cu/ft.

Try stuffing more fill in the box and see what it does. I used the tailgate of a Nissan Pathfinder years ago that had maybe .8 cubic ft for 4 Boston Acoustic 8" subs and that thing pounded off of an old a/d/s/ amp. I would definitely try more fill in that box to fool it into thinking it has more airspace.

Don't bother with trying to stuff it more. You can only gain about 10% more airspace with polyfill, taking you up to a whopping .33 cu ft. Get a larger enclosure and you should be okay. Mark

If the figure of 1cu/ft is correct for your sub, forget about an under seat box entirely. You need something that is designed for a small enclosure. And I would also have to say that an enclosure providing .3 cu/ft for a 10" sub is absolutely worthless.

I installed the Elegonics (Quarter Wave Designs) Down Firing Underseat Enclosure loaded with an 11Kv.2 from Elemental Designs and powered by a NINe.2 from Elemental Designs. It sounds super clean. And the way I have it tuned right now it has just enough bass for the stock stereo with plenty of adjustment for more bass once I upgrade the rest of the system.

The concept of an under seat enclosure isn't bad. It is your choice of parts and execution that didn't fair so well.

would a under the seat box sound good? If it does it most sound like a very mild bass. could it produce heart pounding bass?

Won't be equal to "two twelves" but will fill your stock bottom end in nicely.

I had the Scosche 10" for the rear cargo area. It does OK, it gave a nice bass fill to the stock system. From there, you might want more.

Be sure to choose the right sub-one designed for small enclosures around .5 cu/ft or so. I agree with RTon20s, I don't believe any 10" sub can live in .3 cu/ft. Thats more 8" territory.

You are probably correct. I am switching to a bigger box after I move. I'll take pics of what I have and what I will be putting in after the move. Bought my first house and moving in this Sunday!
