Sorry if this post is in the wrong place, but I wasn't sure where else to ask. I have used the search feature to try to answer my question but wasn't able to find it.

I have just bought a 2006 Scion XB and it did not come with a manual for the stock single CD player. I would like to change the welcome screen message but all the instructions on this forum seem to be for models earlier than 2006. The 2006 does not have an A or M button or an Audio Control button. I have emailed Scion and the dealer I bought it from, but the dealer is 3 1/2 hours away from where I live so going and picking one up is not really an option either.

I was hoping somebody on here either has the instuctions or could point me in the right direction to change the welcome screen?

A= SSP button
M= Mute

I am not sure though I will have to test this out & read my stereo manual, also I have the iPod Radio, so that may be different too.

 

I hear it cant be done on 06 radios,but maybe someone will keep working on it?

Thanks for the replies. I have found that if I hold down MUTE and turn it to ACC I can make the line blink, but I can't figure out what to do to change the text. I have tried just about every combination I can think of, but obviously I'm missing something.

Any other ideas or anybody with a 2006 manual able to help?

 

OK I read my manual and I got it to change my screen!

with the car off hold the mute button and turn the key to acc.
the line under the text will be blinking
hold the 1 preset button, when you hear a beep turn the key to off (keep your finger on the 1 preset button) - you have only 15 sec. to do this
the radio will stay on and the text on the screen will be editable
scroll through the characters buy using the 3 and 4 preset buttons
confirm a character buy pressing the 6 preset button
delete the previous character by pressing the 5 preset button
hold the 6 preset button untill it beeps to confirm the new welcome screen text
you only get 60 seconds to enter text, after the 60 seconds it wont let you edit any text but it will let you confirm the new texts so you can do it again and start where you left off.

The characters scroll like this:
A-Z, a-z, (symbols & a space)

I did this on the iPod HU but it shoould be basically the same for the other 06 HUs....
