When you press the defrost button, does it stay depressed?

When you press the defrost button, does it stay depressed?
Stupid question, I know:
When you depress the defrost button (In between the AC and Hazards on the xB) it lights up by default with an amber light. Is the button also supposed to stay depressed or does the button pop out to original position? On the AC, the button stays depressed until you toggle it off.
The reason I ask: I was monkeying around back there in prep for my Radio install and after I put everything basck together, I noticed the Defrost button does not stay depressed, and I can not recall if it always did that or if I screwed something up that I need to fix.
