Default xB Amp Mounting Locations

1. I tried to place one in the back of the rear passenger seat but the child seat stuff is blocking it. Where else is a good place. How about under the driver or front passenger seat. How about if I have a 2 ft long amp like a 5/6 channel amp.

2. I have been searching, but I haven't found what speaker can be fitted in the front doors without a spacer. Is it just a depth problem or the diameter because I have a midbass speaker that is 6.75 in. I really hate it if I need a spacer.

You can just stick it under the passenger / driver seat. I put mine under the passenger since that's the side of the car my sub is on and where I ran the cables. I don't think you even need to really mount it to anything.. you could just make little lifts to keep it out of wetness and give some more air circulation, and put some traction-improving things on the bottom of the lifts to keep it stuck on the carpet.

You need a spacer for the front speakers. 6.5" is the stock size... if yours are bigger you probably need a thicker spacer. Jigsaw + MDF = your friend.

I have 2 amps and my sirius radio tuner all mounted under my passenger seat, I had a local machine shop make a metal bracket to fit it all.

Eclipse 3640 amp is mounted to the floor, MTX 2150 is above that on the bracket, sirius tuner is above that on the bracket.

The amps do mount nicely under the passenger seat. You can even stack them. Also you can put it in the rear storage compartment.

Mine is there now, but it'll overheat when it's played for so long and in hot weather.

Thanks, man. Recently got it for $200 from an authorized dealer (it was an old demo)!

Only 2x40 but it's surprisingly powerful (running a set of Dynaudio 240GTs).

Wow Nick, that is such a nice clean install!!

Did you do it yourself, or is it a shop install?

Must have been a long run of speaker wires for the crossovers, looks painful, but
VERY clean and well laid out!

If you dont need the child seat deals, they just pop right off. Then, technically, you could mount a thin piece of wood to the structure of the back seat, and then mount the amps to that, and route the wires under the black carpet stuff that covers the back of the seats..

If you mount in the compartment, you can also place in a couple of 12 volt computer fans. . . it will get rid of your overheating issues

Yeah I did install it myself. Took about a half a day and the wiring was a major piece of work. The hardest is getting wire through the grommets to the doors. But yeah I think I will be installing some fans or a better amp with fans in it or that just doesn't get hot to replace this $14 ebay jensen amp.

Simple solution, Lava--nobody rides in the back.

Actually, my doberman is generally the only passenger in the backseat, but even if people were back there, I think the amp is far enough out of the way to not be a problem. I guess I could always get/make something to cover it.

Also, I have thick plastic mats in the car to trap all the water, snow and sand from my surf and snow adventures.

That audioformz enclosure is really sweet...if I had a bigger Mac, with the wattmeters, I'd definitely go that route. But I was looking for a concealed install...too many thieves in our neck of the woods.
