Default mounting air ride tank

i was under my car today and i was tring to figure out where to mount my tank and my tank is to big for that small area. i was wondering would it be a bad idea to cut that metal that is back in that area and make it all flat but keep the tabs where the bumper is mounted. any help would be helpful before i make a mistake.

thanks
shawn
