My AirRide Install [6 valves - Cusco Camber - Pics/Video]
I don't have any time to put the screws in before Exposed, i'm leaving for Miami early tommorow so i'm just going to be careful ... Phil drove around with his floating for a little while (never had them pop out but he said he was worried and cautious) ...
I go ahead and take my blown PS off and then realize the one from FBI is 1/8" thread instead of 1/4" like the blown PS ... so i have a 1/2"->1/4" bushing installed and no way to hook up the 1/8" PS i'll just get the bushing tommorow @ Parker Store when i hook up the gauge.
I also bought a spray bottle and sprayed soapy water on all the fittings to find out where my leaks are ... i had a leak at the dump valve (at the 3/8" nipple between the dump valve and a T-fitting) so i just tightened it down more and no more leak! Also a leak between my water separator and tank which has been taken care of. As far as i can tell none of my compression fittings are leaking which is a great sign. I also had 1 plug that was leaking. I'm going to do the overnight full bag test to see if in the morning it leaks down.
One more question i have is whenever i fill the bags when they're completely empty (and there's a lot of pressure in the tank) i can see a slight amount of air come out the dump valve. Is this normal? The bags both almost instantly fill up but i can see a puff of air come out of the dump valve. I hope it's not bad or something, i don't mind this, i just want to know if this might be normal?

yea thats normal, the diaphram in the dump valve relies on air pressure to stay closed, so for that split second between the fill opening and the line and bag after it becoming pressurized a small amount of air gets by the dump before it creates a seal.
awesome man i'm glad to hear that believe me
Anyhow, i can now offer my first highway driving review of the rear bags. I have to say, with it filled up about 3/4 of the way full (both rear bags, i don't know what PSI) it is very confortable, i can't wait until i get some new shocks i think it'll be even better. Although the air transfer between bags is wierd and kind of annoying ... like if i'm behind a semi the wind which normally blows the box from side to side makes the air transfer and i feel myself in the seat swaying back and forth lol. I'm looking forward to eliminating that with a Progress RSB and making each bag have it's own air supply (2 more valves).
I can firmly say that having it bagged is worth the risks & worrying. It's a lot of fun and the rear is a lot more comfortable on the highway (of course with enough air in the bags).
I did look under the car after i got home and the passenger side top cup has me a little worried ... the top cup of the FBI bracket is all the way to the inside (towards the drivers side) of the top spring perch. However, i don't think it can move any further to where the cup will be outside of the top spring perch because the top perch isn't flat so the FBI cup can't just slide out. It has that center part that the coil springs kind of hook into to keep them from sliding out the sides. I'm hoping that this will keep the bag from popping out the side and i think it will ... besides the bag can't move to far with it being mounted to the bottom spring perch. Once i get back from the show, probably on sunday, i'm going to screw the top cups in ... it's going to be a hell of a job but once it's down i shouldn't have to get under the rear anymore ... except for changes the shocks

Just wanted to post some daytime pics i've taken over the last couple days. Before posting them though i want to post this pic of when i had the Tanabe DF210's on all four corners, the pics of the bags dumped are sort of missleading, in person it is a lot lower. But you can tell by looking at the pic of when i had the Tanabe's and then look at the dumped daytime pics that follow. Keep in mind that the pics with the Tanabe's on are missleading too, i think because i have 15" wheels and my camera sucks.

Just got back from Miami for Scion Exposed 2.0 . It was a blast man, i'll get some pics up in the morning. Just wanted to say that nothing unexpected happened, the bags did good. I stopped at Parker Store along the way and hooked up my gauge in the parking lot, also my new PS. Everything is working and i run around 40~45 PSI in the rear bags (shared). Now i'm going to touch up the install a little bit, i want to mount everything so it's out of the way maybe even underneath. A guy showed up at the show with a bad ___ xB. Full custom air ride, 8 valves, 4 Viair 450c Compressors!! I think like a slim 6 gallon tank? Everything was mounted underneath the car and at full drop he could still roll without any interference. He had an awesome body kit and paint job too. I'll have to get pics up of his with a video too maybe.
Ok so here's the pics from Exposed 2.0 Miami:
Cleaned up and ready to get dirty again after the 4hr drive to Miami:

Cleaned up again at the show:

The guy at the Parker Store had compression fittings, but they didn't have the brass inserts in them (just a sleeve, so u could crush the airline completely which wouldn't be good). So he recommened me to buy there DOT all brass pushlok brake line fittings. I'll have to get a close up pic but they're all brass PTC fittings. I got 1/4" because they didn't have 1/8" for my gauges and i haven't had a problem with them, and they're reusable forever basically unlike the plastic PTC fittings. He said they're rated up to 1000 PSI so i should be good (yea one thousand). I have no leaks at my tank right now but i had a very small leak past my fill valve, i haven't found it yet but i haven't really looked.

Just wanted to post up about my experience today ...
I get home and get all my tools out and ready to screw in the top cups of the FBI brackets. So i don't have to worry about it coming unseated over bumps and i can drive more "regularly". Also, i can jack the car up and i don't have to reseat both bags when i go to un-jack it and lower back to the ground (it's a _____ this way).
MAN, screwing the top brackets in with a floorjack and hand tools is a _____!!! I have a drill etc. and i could drill the holes easily (meaning i didn't have any problem getting the drill in a tight space, i just unbolted the shocks to let the axle hang lower). I wish i was working on it standing up with the car on a lift in a shop .... laying on the ground for 2 hours is not fun ... it was a _____ to line up the bracket etc. so i could break all the parts down and then drill the holes (which were hard themselves to drill on a curved surface).
So i drill the 4 holes for each bracket, assemble the bag back onto the brackets only to find out it didn't line up, i was slightly off ... man was i ____ed, so many F bombs lol. I ended up putting 1 screw into a hole i drilled, turned the bracket slightly and screwed one more hole across from it. Lined up perfect. The other side i did right somehow but it wasn't perfect. 1 screw went in at a slight angle and it was enough to interfere with the bag screwing all the way up against the bracket ... which meant it didn't line up with the bottom spring perch. I took out the screw that was interferring so now i have 2 screws in each bracket and it's solid. I took it for a test drive and it feels firmer and i feel a lot more safe driving around now. I can't wait to get 4 valves in the back and get a sway bar and maybe a tower bar for the rear (i don't know yet).
I also got about 15 cuts on my hands ... i guess it's worth it to do it myself and not pay anyone else to do it ... man i wish i had a lift tho

So did you happen to paint your brackets while you had it apart?
I find it so odd, that every single picture I have seen on Scionlife of bag brackets they have been bare steel. Why don't you guys spend a couple bucks on a can of black spray paint?

you mean the video of my setup running? I'll try to get it up sometime this week. I also have a BIG video of Scion Exposed 2.0
This video is going to be long tho, i'm going to make a dvd and ask peeps to paypal me some $$ to cover the dvd's and shipping etc.

Yes, the paint is really just for corrosion resistance. And it also makes for a much cleaner install. Depending on the paint you buy, you don't necessarily have to primer. If you are going for a show quality paint job you will, but not for corrosion resistance.
All you really need to do is knock off what surface rust you can (super easy) and then hit it with either some Rustoleum of (even better) 3M black rubberized undercoating.
Any time I am doing any type of suspension or chassis work, I keep a couple of cans of the 3M undercoating handy. You never know when you might need to give something a quick shot. It isn't the prettiest paint in the world, but it looks 100 times better than rusting parts.

I'm not worried about looks, because over time the SS bags are gonna be nasty. And at shows my xB will be slammed and hopefully with the help of some body work, it should be almost touching the ground. No one is going to see the components, or i won't be "showing" them specifically.
The rubberrized stuff, will it eventually wear off? Like on the parts where the brackets touch metal? I'm glad u mentioned this man.
By the way, how is your big post coming along? And your plan for bagging?

Finally got a vid up, first part is from Scion Exposed 2.0 in Miami, 2nd is meeting up with a club member:
>>>>Click here to watch Bagged-Camo<<<<
It is like 12mb so it could take a little while to load.
The noise of the blown speakers are from the crap ___ loudspeakers they had at he show, my xB is playing the techno. You can also hear the comp. running, it's not as loud as i thought it would be. I'm happy with it
