Default Power Steering quit working!

I found out what had gone wrong with my power steering.
while under driving load the power steering pulley tensioner had slipped enough that the belt staid in place, but was to loose to operate properly.
I tightened it up and took off. Happy to report that the power steering is working once again.

I think its a pretty flawed design, not to mention a real pain in the butt to tighten.
I was driving home and noticed my power steering quit working. The steering was very hard and slow to turn at low speeds, and from a stop.

I've owned a manual steering car in the past (E30 BMW) so i know what manual steering feels like.

Anyone else have this issue?

I looked and saw NO leaks. I put more fluid in the system. Didn't work!

I had noticed that it was making a growling sound when I turned the wheel to full lock a few weeks ago.

Belt seems good and tight.

I hope someone has an answer.

Power steering pump might've went bad. Try gassing it a little when you're in the parked position and see if it gets a little better, if it does than possibly the power steering pump is malfunctioning and not giving enough flow to the rack and pinion.

I when I'm driving it's better. I did notice that the belt is a bit loose
