Well, guys right at the moment I'm struggling with the E-brake cable mount. As like the previous post states, there is a large liability issue doing brake conversions. I to make the rear hub spacers and they are listed as off road use only too. This conversion when done will be listed the same. Thats if I can get it done! I can see why now no one has came out with one using the stock equipment (e-brake cable) I will keep working on it, but it has been slow going with the cable. I'll keep you posted with the progress.

i am counting on the reliability of your caliper bracket; regardless of usage qualifers.

i bought your 3/4" rear xb spacers to replace my otg spacers. i like the non-integral design of yours over the two piece otg 3/4". you build top quality stuff.

thanks for crafting this kit.
Hey man, thanks for the kind words and for purchasing some of my spacers. That was my biggest reason for making the spacers in so many sizes. I don't like the stack method! I do plan on getting the rear disc conversion done, I just have to find the right setup for the e-brake cable. I think everyone should be happy with it when its completed. Me for one!

Yeah, well, if non-integral means one-piece, that's what I like about them too. That, and they are black instead of silver, which lets them blend in with the swingarm and the rear brake backing plate on my xB.
I see he had two metal pieces holding the calipher in his first rear disc brake mock-up, and when he machined the caliper bracket he made it a one-piece. The man does super machinist's work.

I think I have the mount figured out for the e-brake. But still working on it! Have tried two or three different ways and think I have one that will work.

Mike, I'm sure you will be able to do it. You do great work and this will be no different. I hope to be able to afford this, I could always use more braking power.

Well, I now know why no one has came out with one of these that is 100% bolt on. I don't think I can get the stock cable to work, so my next thing to do is get new cables made to fit my application. It will make this whole conversion much easier. This is the last thing to try. I will post up some pictures of the cables, if thats what I end up doing.

Just out of curiosity, I wanted to know if you have an idea of the an estimated cost for a kit/install might be after all is the R&D is done + the no how in how to install?

As far as the kit cost, I can't say for sure. But it should be between 600-800. I might be able to get it down more when everything is done and I can buy calipers in quantity. Right now I've been buying them one at a time. And the calpers will be the biggest cost in the kit. As far as the know how on the install. It should be pretty simple, thats why I bought the rear swingarm. So I could build the kit on a workbench, so it would be a simple bolt on kit. The hardest part if any will be putting the new e-brake cable in, but it should all be able to be installed with common hand tools.

Mind if I chime in here. Maybe I can help you out with this kit. I have done a few replacements as well. Actually I was wondering what i can do to get a set of your caliper mounts for the rear. I have been wanting to replace my rear as well, but do not have a machine shop for the caliper bracket.

Did you go with the Corolla GTS caliper, or the MR2 caliper? At this point I am about to go ahead and order the aftermarket e-brake cables. There is more adjustment with them and looks alot cleaner than the stock cable with that 45 degree mounting plate on it.

My boy in merced actually recommended the corolla GTS calipers. Corolla GTS year 88-90 I believe. This one:

Because this post has had so much valuable input and interest I have a question. I am to a point that I am about to finish up and wanted to know if I come out with these conversion kits, would you rather: A) have me bore the rotors to fit? or B) buy hubs and turn them, then have a core to get the buyers hubs back? If, I go with option B then anyone could go out and buy the rotors needed to replace if/or when they need to be. Any input, please!

I would go with the core option, that only has to be done once, then you could just buy rotors when you need them.

How much material needs to be removed from the hubs Mike?

When I tried and failed to make a disc conversion I ground less than 1/8" off of the end of each spoke on the xb hub to have it fit perfectly into a Corolla GTS rotor. There was plenty of metal still supporting the studs. My thinking was I could use a stock rotor or a upgraded one without having to increase the inside hat diameter each time. But I also had to trim the center hole on the rotor so it would clear the xb hub. So there would still be that to do each time a rotor is changed. I stayed with my drums and have had no problems with the gound down hub.
