Oh, that is not as bad as I thought it would be. I can do each spoke at a time on my bench grinder till they clear.

 

.093 (or there about) is what has to be removed from each hub spoke to work. I hope to have this done and on in the next week. I have to say I have one of the OTHER conversions right now that I am REWORKING for someone, and all I can say is very crude materials were used. I am making new caliper brackets (they don't even fit the xB hub), and reworking the rotors (they don't fit the hub), and might have to modify the actual caliper bracket that comes on the caliper for it to work. And it was sold as a direct fit! This is one thing I can promise everyone watching this post. Mine WILL fit! And WILL be a complete bolt on kit. Bare with me as I am in the final stages of this conversion, and when its done you won't be disappointed. Then comes the big brake Wilwood Kit, which after all the R&D put into this one should be an easy conversion. Just not as cheap!

Well, this is somewhat true. But the pilot on the hub and the pilot on the rotor are different, so some grinding would need to be done on the rotor there as well. I can let you guys know how much, but it is very little!!! My big thing for just going with turning the hub down is that the rotor hat is untouched. I have one side done and hope to go in tomorrow to finish the other. I will take some pictures while I'm working on the other side, so you guy can see what has to be modded to the rotor. I did end up going with an aftermarket e-brake cable and all I can say is it is SAWEET! I can't wait to get this installed!

 

Man, that sounds great. When I had the Corolla GTS rear calipers, I could not figure out a way the factory xB cable would attach to the caliper e-brake lever. I had the correct caliper end and the correct handle end on two different cables, but never the same cable.

Did you find one somewhere, or have to make one? You are doing some seriously good work either way.

i think option B would be best because if i ever had to replace the rotor, i could just go to a parts store and pick one up.

Well, I got the two hubs done today along with the rotors, and one caliper bracket. The rotor still has to be modified to fit the hub, even after the spokes are cut down. The hub pilot that the rotor slips over is .050 to small. The xB hub pilot is 2.17, the Corolla rotor is 2.125. It could be easily done at home too, if the rotors ever need to be replaced! Otherwise I will be machining up about 20 sets of rotors, after everything has been tested and working the way it should. It looks like I may still have this on before the end of the week!!!!!!

 

im a good DIY kind of guy and wouldn't have any problem with working the rotors myself, i just think it would be easier for most people that can't or don't want to.

Well, gonna order another set of rotors tomorrow, With the Corolla rotor on, The caliper hits the swing arm before it makes it to the mounting holes on the caliper brackets. I have another rotor I was using before I got this other conversion to work on, so I decided to switch rotors to the same in that kit. BAD CALL! This may hold me up a day or so waiting on rotors, but I wanna do this right. My goal is to get this on, test it for a couple weeks then make up some kits. And for those of you in the Southeast going to the ST. PADDY's Day Scion Show in Atlanta, I plan on having kits available there as well!

 

Ok, Toyota Corolla GTS calipers mounted on well, we'll leave it at that at the moment!






Next is the new e-brake cables. And get rid of the make-shift caliper brackets for some nice CNC'd ones!

Ok, the one pc caliper brackets are DONE! Now the actual caliper bracket that comes with the caliper has to be modded. Hope to have that done tomorrow at luch. Then I can mount it on my workbench swingarm to make sure everything works like it is suppose to. I really can't mount the e-brake until I take my center counsel out, so I'll be driving without the e-brake for a few days. Until I get it all hooked up. I will post some pictures tomorrow. I've been at work since 5:00 this morning. Went in early and stayed late, but the rotors, calipers, modded caliper brackets, and my caliper brackets are DONE!!!!!!!!! Ebrake is hooked up to one caliper. Now I plan on mounting it the box, then finish the ebrake while I drive it. It turned out really nice!!
